Power Up Passages

Stop Reading The Fine Print.
November 23, 2002.

Yes, you did indeed read the title correctly. We want you to stop reading the fine print. The ‘fine print’ we’re talking about here is not fine print on your contracts to purchase a car or the terms of your new credit card, although many folks rarely take the time to read that fine print anyway. The fine print contained on those types of documents is important to read and understand.

The fine print we are referring to are those minute, almost inconsequential odds and ends that needlessly slow us down and impede our progress daily. Unbelievably, there are millions of people who regularly allow their lives to be dominated by small and insignificant issues. In fact, many people allow these little distractions to become enormous stumbling blocks.

The only picture they can see for themselves and their future is one of just barely scraping by – day after humdrum day. These little things knock them down and unless they decide to overcome them, will keep them down for good. Talk about making a mountain out of mole hill! Life is far too valuable to waste any time on little ‘fine print’ distractions.

You need focus your attention and activities on the bigger and more important aspects of your life. You never want to be guilty of majoring in minor things, do you? So why not choose to see and seize the BIG picture instead?

When it comes to making choices, you should examine your options and then make decisions. While some of the decisions you make will occasionally be the wrong ones, it is far better to make a choice and make a mistake than to make no decision at all. After all, any and all mistakes can be corrected. As a matter of fact, you can gain invaluable experience from the mistakes you make. Without a doubt, the most costly error is the failure or refusal to make any decision whatsoever.

You can never allow yourself to get all caught up in the fine print when there are so many big things for you to see, think and do. It’s important to stay focused on the big picture and remember that you were put on earth to thrive, not merely survive.

When a little this or a little that comes along, get it quickly taken care of it and keep moving relentlessly towards the attainment of your big goals and even bigger aspirations. When you begin seeing the big picture and start expecting big things from yourself, you will begin living the big life you have always deserved to live.

The main thing is keeping the main thing the main thing.
