"The more difficult a problem becomes, the more interesting it is." Andrew Carnegie
Some days aren't as good as others (as if I had to tell you that). Some days your path is packed with obstacles and obstructions. There are other days when the roadway is littered with roadblocks. And then there are days when it seems like there are barriers and impediments everywhere you turn.
And that makes for some tough sledding.
When things aren't going right, it is only natural to want to do better; to want to get things going. But sometimes, in spite of your best efforts, the problems and pressures overwhelm you. After getting bounced around awhile, you eventually lose your steam.
You don't see a way out. You don't see a way around your problems. You don't see how you are going to make it. So you start looking for a place to run, a place to hide; a place to get away from the nonstop pressure and noise. But there is nowhere to run.
Things look hopeless.
Your actions seem fruitless.
You feel helpless.
Welcome to life.
"There is no shortage of problems; only a shortage of problem-solvers." Greg Hickman
To say life can be difficult on occasion is an understatement.
There is not a day that goes by without something going wrong. Bad things happen. Problems occur. You struggle. You stumble. You suffer from time to time. It's not fun. And you don't like it (who does?). But problems are simply problems. And that's not all bad.
After all, problems make you grow.
Problems make you think.
Problems make you push.
Problems make you better.
Regardless of the size or scope of the difficulties you face, there is always a solution. There is always an answer. There is always a way under, around or through each and every challenge you encounter.
Problems and adversity are not big deals unless you make them big deals. So don't.
"All problems become smaller if you don't dodge them, but confront them." William F. Halsey
In order to get past the problems plaguing you today, you have to first stop looking at THE PROBLEM. Stop fretting about what you don't have. Or what you can't do. Stop thinking about how tired you are. Or how far behind you have fallen. Stop worrying about how you are going to get over the hump. And start focusing on the now... right now.
You've got to stop running, stop hiding and stop cowering in the corner each time trouble strikes. Instead, stand up to your problems. Look them square in the eye. Don't back up. Don't back down. Don't run. Don't hide.
Don't flinch. Don't give an inch.
"Each problem that I solved became a rule, which served afterwards to solve other problems." Rene Descartes
When a problem blocks your path, don't sidestep it. Don't back away. Don't put it off until a later date. Show some fire, some grit, some big-time backbone and determination.
Dig in. Take a stand. Draw a line in the sand. And get mean dog nasty. Attack the problem full force. Plow right through it. Steamroll it flat. Smash it to smithereens. Do whatever it takes to solve the problem. Then get on down the road. Each time you overcome a problem, you get better, stronger and smarter. You feel better. And add another notch to your problem solving belt.
Best of all, with the problem out of the way, you're free to move in any direction you choose. Free to fill your mind with the right thoughts, free to recharge your fervor and passion. Free to revitalize your dreams.
You're free to be... free.
The next time a problems rolls around, take off the gloves. Take it on. Take your best shot. Then take it down.
Power Pointer: Don't run from your problems; run over them instead.
