Power Up Passages

Putting The Bad to Bed.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

October 10, 2011

"Difficulties mastered are opportunities won." Winston Churchill

Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do good people lose their jobs? Why do good people get sick? Why do good people have to suffer and go through bad times?

I don't know. I wish I did, but I dont.

Why doesn't life go your way on occasion? Why don't things happen the way you want or when you want them to happen? Why do you have to get rocked, socked and knocked to your knees, even when you gave it everything you've got? Why do things go wrong when you have worked so hard to make things right?

Again, I don't know. I know that's not a good answer, in fact it's a lousy answer. But it's the best one I can give. Only God knows for sure why things happen. And whether we like it or not, that has to be good enough.

"Disappointments should be cremated, not embalmed." Henry S. Haskings

It has been said that things happen for a reason - good and bad alike. But trying to figure out why the bad happens can quickly become a frustrating exercise in futility. After all, you worked. You believed. You prayed. You gave it your best shot. And you came up short. You start wondering what happened. You start questioning, "why me?"

You don't understand why things didn't work out. You don't agree with the fairness of the results. So you look for answers. You search for reasons. You try to find out why things went wrong. And you run into a brick wall. Buried somewhere beneath the rubble, obscured by the trouble, there is a reason. Maybe you will uncover the reason, maybe you won't.

But one thing is for certain. You need to toss aside the pain. You have to let go of the hurt. You have to leave the disappointment behind. You have to put the bad to bed. And get on down the road.

"Life must pass through difficulty in order to achieve any modicum of beauty." Colum McCann

Hey, I know (believe me I know), it is easy to get negative and discouraged when things go wrong. It's easy to get bitter, frustrated and discouraged when bad things happen. It's way too easy as a matter of fact. So here's a piece of advice I hope you heed: don't take the easy way out.

As difficult as it may be to understand when you are down and almost out, you have to fall down to rise up. You have to get knocked down before you can come back. You have to stand up before you can stand out.

Remember this: it's one thing to get knocked down. It is something altogether different to stay down.

Condition yourself to let go of the hurt, let go of the pain, let go of the bad stuff as fast as you can. LET IT GO! Push it aside. Shove it away. Kick it down the road. Do whatever you have to do to get it out of your life. Then clear your mind. Renew your spirit. Recharge your batteries.

Open your heart. Open your eyes. Open the door to something new.

The minute you open up, you will see new things you never saw before. Out of the blue, you will start seeing new ideas. You will start living new adventures. You will start experiencing new challenges. And start enjoying a new beginning.

"Looking back, we see with great clarity, and what once appeared as difficulties now reveal themselves as blessings." Dan Millman

When bad things happen in your life, it hurts. How can it not? After all, you hoped for the best. You worked for the best. You strived for the best. And things went south.

Whenever you give your best and get something less than the best in return, it can break your heart. It can cloud your vision. It can cut you right to the core - if you give it that chance.

Please don't.

The next time you get knocked down, get up. Get better. And get going again. Get moving in the right direction. Get stronger, more determined and more focused than ever before. Push past the problems, plow through the adversities and power right over your misfortune or hardship. And leave it all behind.

Go get the life you deserve. Go get it with passion. Go get it with purpose. Go get it with all the fire and fervor you can muster.

And put the bad to bed once and for all.

Power Pointer: Forget the bad. Focus on the good.
