Power Up Passages

Here's An Idea.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

September 24, 2010.

"Sometimes I think creativity is magic; it's not a matter of finding an idea, but allowing the idea to find you." Maya Lin

It's just another day, like a thousand days before. You're going about your daily routine, doing the same old stuff you normally do; nothing really out of the ordinary. Then, in an instant, everything changes.

Out of nowhere, an idea thunders into your life.

Like a bolt of lightning streaking across the nighttime sky, this idea hits with suddenness, with ferocity, with a fury you've never felt before. It rocks you hard... and deep. And knocks you out of your seat.

This idea captures your imagination. It activates your emotions. It shakes you right to your core. At long last, the idea you've been looking for has found you.

In less than half a heartbeat, you are forever changed.

"Every day I find something creative to do with my life." Miles Davis

You're immediately stuck with the freshness, the boldness, the energy of the new idea. It is way different from anything you have ever tried. In fact, it is decidedly different from anything you have even thought before. It is so amazingly different, so extraordinarily special that you're actually thrown for a loop.

You don't know what to think. You don't really know what to do. So you try to gather yourself. You try to get a grip and settle down. And get back to what you were previously doing. But the thought won't go away. You cannot shake it. Or forget about it. It's right there; it won't let go. It's all you can think about. It consumes you from head to toe.

You love the idea. It's exciting and even more importantly, it's YOU. It's what you should be doing, what you need to be doing. And besides, you're ready for a change. You're ready for something different, something exciting, and something completely opposite of anything you've done before.

You want to throw your heart and soul into this new idea. And go wherever it takes you.

"Creativity requires the courage to let go of certainties." Erich Fromm

You want to jump in. No, it's way more than that. You want to LEAP in right now. Leap in with both feet. And you sure don't want to go back to the old way of doing things. You've been there, you've done that; and it hasn't done much - other than keep you where you are. And that's no longer enough.

You want to do more, be more and see more. Have more, give more and feel more. You want to have more fun, more happiness, more of the great things life has in store. And this idea may be your ticket to success.

Yet there's something holding you back, something tugging at your feet; something preventing you from taking the plunge. And there's a silent voice whispering in your ear, cautioning you to slow down, to take it easy, and to ease up a little.

You start thinking. You stop doing, And you start wondering if this new idea is a little too risky, too dicey; maybe downright reckless. So you ease back. You slow down. You back away. And go back to what you have always done.

Later, maybe months, maybe years down the road, you'll remember the day you had that great idea. You'll wonder why you didn't you give it a try, why you didn't you take a chance. You may not remember exactly what that idea was anymore, but you'll remember letting it go.

And regret will fill your heart.

"Anything can happen." Ernie Harwell

Is this the way you want to live your life? A life of might haves and what could have been. Or are you willing to push beyond your present boundaries and see what real living is all about?

Maybe today, maybe tomorrow or perhaps the day after that, a sensational idea is going to rocket into your mind. And hit you like a runaway locomotive. You need to seize it, embrace it and then give it a go. Take it for a spin. Do whatever you have to do to give that idea a chance. And see what happens.

Who knows, maybe this idea will set the world on fire. Maybe it won't. But one thing is for certain: you'll never know if you never give it a shot.

Make sure you give it that shot. After all, one GREAT idea is all it takes.

The Bottom Line: Open your heart to possibilities.
