"If it is to be, it is up to me." William H. Johnsen
How many times have you said something along the lines of, "If it were up to me I'd do..." or maybe, "If I had the chance, I'd do..."? If you're like most of us, you've uttered something along those lines hundreds of times; maybe even thousands of times over the years.
After all, there are so many things you want to do, so many things you'd love to try; yet for some reason or maybe no reason at all, you don't. You never quite get over the hump. You never really put it all together.
And you never get to experience the life you've dreamed of living.
So who's holding you back? Who's keeping you down? Who's preventing you from doing all of the things you'd dearly love to do?
The who is you.
Far too often these casual excuses are used to justify why you haven't done the things you could be and should be doing. Rather than getting busy making something happen, you get busy making all sorts of excuses; excuses that never move you one inch closer to fulfilling your promise, that never bring you one step closer to living your dreams.
Instead of living the life you love, you blame virtually everyone and everything in sight for what you don't have or haven't done.
"Ninety-nine percent of failures come from people who have a habit of making excuses." George Washington Carver
Well, let's set the record straight.
IT IS UP TO YOU to shake things up and make something happen.
IT IS UP TO YOU to take charge of your actions.
IT IS UP TO YOU to make your life all it could be and more.
That's right, it is all completely, totally, 100% up to you.
It's not your family, friends or co-workers fault you're not where you want to be. And it's not the economy, the government or your employer's fault either. If you truly want to move your life in the right direction, you have to accept personal responsibility for where you are - and where you're going.
And accept it right now.
"Take your life in your own hands and what happens? A terrible thing: no one to blame." Erica Jong
If you're not where you've always dreamed of going, the blame falls right smack dab in your lap. If you're not making the most of each and every day, the only finger pointing should be aimed directly at you. Sure, it hurts to shoulder all of the blame, especially when you're not exactly setting the world on fire. But shoulder it you must if you're going to realize your goals and aspirations.
You have to summon the courage to do what needs to be done - when it needs doing. That means making the tough decisions and choices in life - when they need to be made. If you're going to change your results, you're going to have to change where you're going. And what you're doing as well.
"Responsibilities gravitate to the person who can shoulder them; power flows to the man who knows how." Elbert Hubbard
If there's something you want to try, you need to try it. In fact, don't just try it; do it. And give it all that you've got. If you make a mistake, simply correct it and keep on going. And keep getting better.
Since your success (or lack thereof) falls squarely on your back to you, isn't it about time that you accept responsibility for where you are and where you're headed? And start seizing control of your destiny right now.
By forcefully grabbing the reins, you can take charge of your life. You can start having the things you have always wanted. You can start living the life you desire - and deserve. That's right; you can have anything you have ever wanted when you take charge of your life!
By taking charge, you no longer have to sit around waiting and hoping something good will come along. You now get to make things happen, you get to make the decisions. You get to chart your own course in history. And you get to start doing all of the things you've always wanted to do.
The Bottom Line: You need to take charge - and watch your life take off.
