Power Up Passages

Get Better!
August 6, 2002

Yesterday we talked about the importance of getting up each and every time you get knocked down. While the act of getting up is ninety percent of getting over a problem or difficulty, it’s also important to make sure that you don’t repeat the mistake somewhere down the road if at all possible.

There’s a light hearted adage that says “experience is recognizing the same mistake when you make it again.” I’m sure you’d agree that’s certainly some experience we could all choose to lose.

This is precisely where the “get better” component of overcoming adversity comes into play. After you have picked yourself up, you should make it a habit to review what lead to the setback or difficulty in the first place. Take a look at what you did right, what you did wrong and what you could have done better. Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative and then look to find a better way, a smarter way and a faster way to do it the next time around.

Repeating mistakes or failing to improve is not going to get you where you want to go. Getting to the top requires that each of us get better each and every day. When you condition yourself to get up and get better every time you get knocked down, your life will get better than you have ever dreamed was possible.

Have a better than ever day!

The Power Up Passage is brought to you each weekday by The Motivational and Inspirational Corner.
