If there is one absolute certainty about life, it is this: life will test you. And I mean test you really good on occasion.

Sometimes it will rock you and sock you. And sometimes it will knock you completely off course. How you handle these defining moments in large measure determines your direction in life. If you're not prepared to meet and defeat the difficulties you encounter daily, get used to getting stuck with the short end of the stick.

In order to get wherever you truly wish to go, you've got to get tougher, bigger and stronger. Tougher than the toughest tests you'll ever face. Bigger than the biggest obstacles that cross your path. Stronger than the most demanding difficulty you'll stumble across.

And that requires strength training.

Most of us have heard the story about the 97 pound weakling who is constantly bullied by guys bigger and stronger than him down at the beach. Every day the bullies push him around and throw sand in his face. Not strong enough to fend them off, he is forced to take whatever punishment his tormentors dish out. One day he finally decides that he's had enough, that he doesn't want to get pushed around any longer. So he starts a strength training regimen to build himself up to the point that he can take on the bullies. And they finally leave him alone.

Adversity caused him to get stronger, bigger and tougher than he originally was. And a strength training program can do the same for you.

Hey, I'm not talking about hitting the weight room. I'm talking about implementing a program that makes you mentally tougher, that helps you develop an internal strength that simply cannot be defeated. By training yourself to get stronger, you can absolutely get stronger that any difficulty or misfortune life tosses your way.

Simply put, winning is the ability to outlast the losing; to keep on pushing, persisting and persevering regardless of how hopeless things may presently appear. By conditioning yourself to keep going, even when things aren't going your way, you develop a never say die type of attitude that cannot be defeated.

I know, sometimes you worry you're not strong enough, that you're not up to the task. So you give in - and give up. But please remember this, especially in those moments when your confidence and self-assurance is on the wane: YOU CAN DO IT! Yes, you can. As long as you're willing to do whatever it takes to reach the goals you have set for yourself, you can get the job done.

Focus on what you want to accomplish. Really zero in on the things that matter most in your life. I want you to see them in your mind, to feel them in your heart. Can you see them? Can you feel them? Now it's time to go make them happen.

Life is and always has been a self-fulfilling prophecy. You get what you believe you deserve; nothing more, nothing less. That's why it is so critically important for you to believe in yourself.

You are you - God's very best. So set your sights on being all God created you to be. Deep down inside you hold more strength, power and ability than you'll ever need. It's just a matter of putting these special God-given gifts to work each and every day.

When you believe you can - you can. When you believe you have what it takes - you've got that and more. When you believe you're strong enough, tough enough and big enough to achieve all of your goals and aspirations - and believe it with your heart and soul - you can make your dreams come true.

The Bottom Line: You have the power to do whatever your heart desires. It's time to turn that power loose.
