Power Up Passages

Why Stop Now?

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

August 26, 2010.

"To get what you want, stop doing what isn't working." Dennis Weaver

You're moving, you're making things happen - and you want to keep moving. You want to keep it going. You want to maintain your momentum. And keep moving forward.

Be it work or play, you generally want to keep going once you get it going. Stopping or slowing down when you're on a roll or in the middle of something important just hinders your progress.

But sometimes you do need to STOP what you're doing in order to get where you truly want to go.

Sounds crazy, but it's true. Sometimes stopping is the fastest path to success.

"A stop sign is a gift for you to learn that moving in the same direction won't take you any place new." Rex Steven Sikes

Hey, I'm not suggesting that you stop what you're doing RIGHT; not at all. But you definitely need to stop what you're doing wrong. You need to stop all of those destructive things you do on a daily basis, stop all of those self-defeating habits you've acquired over time.

And start loving life.

For starters, you can stop being your own worst enemy. Far too often you are our way too hard on yourself. You beat yourself up, you knock yourself down. You sell yourself short. Instead of constantly tearing yourself apart, why don't you start building yourself up and see where it takes you?

You can stop putting yourself down. You can stop doubting your abilities. You can stop listening to the doom and gloom crowd who tell you you're not good enough or smart enough to get the job done. And start looking within to find the strength you need.

It's there, right there; you just need to look.

"There's no one to stop you but yourself." David Thomas

While you're at it, here are a few more stop signs to heed.

Stop shooting yourself in the foot.
Stop settling for less than you deserve.
Stop worrying about what may or may not happen.
Stop looking for the bad - and start looking for the good.

Be honest, what has any of this negative behavior ever gotten you? Has it made your life better? Has it helped maximize your God-given potential? Has it made you happier, healthier or more productive? The answers are no, no and heck no.

It's high time you mashed down on the brakes - and stopped stopping yourself.

"Set your goals high and don't stop until you get there." Bo Jackson

But don't stop there.

You need to start living life with verve, vigor and vitality, giving life everything you've got each and every day. This process begins by putting a stop to those things that have held you back in the past. If something slows you down, stop it. If something prevents you from living our dreams, stop it. If something doesn't make your life richer or more fulfilling, stop it. Stop it cold.

And start down a better path.

I urge you to seek out the very best life offers up each and every day - and then embrace it with every ounce of energy you can muster. Start living life - and living it with passion. When you finally stop stopping yourself, you'll start unleashing a flurry of unbridled passion, hope and optimism that cannot be stopped.

And start living the life you deserve.

The Bottom Line: Stop stopping yourself. And you'll start being yourself.
