Power Up Passages

One Special Light.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

August 23, 2010.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that." Martin Luther King, Jr.

In a world oftentimes filled with all sorts of negative people and negative things, it's not always easy to find a shining light of hope and happiness.

As the dark clouds come drifting into our life, it can take everything we've got to withstand the weight of the adversity and challenges we face daily. Sometimes we can handle the wilting array of pressures and problems that seem to bombard us from every angle. And sometimes we're not up to the task.

And when we're not, we lose faith in ourselves... and the world around us.

We start to lose sight of the good life offers us all. We lose sight of all of the talents and gifts we possess. We lose sight of all of the great things we can have, hold and be in our lifetimes. Instead of feeling optimistic and upbeat, we feel beaten and broken. Instead of knowing we have what it takes, we feel hesitant and unsure. Instead of getting out there and showing the world what we're capable of accomplishing, we feel anxious and alone.

And our lives become desperately dark.

"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle." James Keller

Yet in spite of the darkness, we still look for something positive, something pleasant to hold on to. We need to know there's something good waiting out there for all of us. We need to know, especially during these darkest of dark moments, that there's someone out there who cares.

Ever been there? Ever felt those same feelings? Ever wished there was someone out there willing to help you when you needed it the most? Sure you have; we all have at one time or another.

How did it feel when someone, maybe a friend - maybe a total stranger, took a few minutes out of their day and reached out and touched your life? It felt absolutely amazing, didn't it? Words can scarcely describe that wondrously sensational feeling we all feel whenever someone lifts us up and out of our den of despair.

They didn't have to stop, but they did. They didn't have to care, but they did. They didn't have to reach out and pull you out of your funk, but thankfully they did. They were your shining light of hope when you needed it the most. And they made you better in the process.

So here's an idea. Why not return the favor and become a positive force in the lives of others whenever and wherever you can?

"There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of even one small candle." Robert Alden

There are people are hurting all around you. There are people who have fallen down or fallen on hard times, people who have lost hope and lost faith. They would like to do better, to feel better, but they don't know what to do or where to turn. And they could really use some help right now. So why not be the person who offers them a helping hand?

Please don't ignore them. Don't close your eyes to them. Don't walk away from them. Embrace them. Reach out and touch them. Let them know you care. You need to help them heal, help them restore their faith and help them regain their sense of pride and self-worth. You need to be that special someone who is willing to go the extra mile; you need to be that person of unwavering faith, character and conviction they desperately need.

It doesn't take a lot of work to encourage the discouraged. Just show them you are there - and you care. It doesn't take a lot of time to give hope to the hopeless. Just give them a reason to believe once again. It doesn't take a lot of effort to reach out and touch those who have lost touch. It just takes you.

You can make the world a better place one caring, sharing moment at a time.

"Shine within you so that it can shine on someone else. Let your light shine." Oprah Winfrey

There's more than enough negative junk out there; cloudy, crummy, yucky stuff that nobody wants in their lives. Yet, like it or not, it's out there just the same. They key is to plow through this negative pile of negative clutter each and every day, allowing the light to shine in once again in your life - and the lives of those around you.

You need to look for the best wherever you go. That means bringing out the best in yourself and those all around you too. As you discover the best life has to offer, why not take some time to help as many other people as possible experience life's magic along the way?

Offer a helping hand to those who have thrown theirs up in despair. Walk into the lives of people where others have walked out. Wipe away the tears and give people the hope they desperately need. By consistently believing in others when no one else will, you become a shining beacon of light in their lives.

And there's no better feeling on earth.

The Bottom Line: Be a shining a light of hope, faith and happiness each and every day.
