A lot of people suffer from a chronic back problem. I'm not talking about a physical affliction that bothers millions of people around the world. Instead, I'm referring to another kind of back problem that plagues millions more daily. It's a back problem that disrupts lives. It's a back problem that impedes personal development. It's a back problem that must be corrected if those afflicted are going to lead healthy, happy, productive lives.

OK, so what am I talking about here? I'm specifically addressing the reluctance of some people to show any sort of real backbone, especially when it's needed the most.

These people are so afraid of failing, so scared of losing, so terrified about things going wrong that they never really give themselves a chance to succeed. At the first sign of trouble, they are the first to back down. When the going gets tough, they get going& in the opposite direction. Constantly backpedalling and backing away, they rarely back up their words with any kind of meaningful action.

And they rarely make a dent in their goals.

It takes a lot of character to face up your problems - and then do something about them. After all, it's a lot easier to run and hide when things start to unravel. But come on, what does running away really accomplish? Does it make the problem go away? Does it help solve the problem at hand? Does it get you one inch closer to your goals? No, no and no. So is backing away really the answer youre looking for?

I don't think so.

You have to condition yourself to attack your problems; I mean really go get them the moment they show up. Instead of allowing them to take control, you need to vanquish them right from the start; never allowing them a chance to take root. Granted, it's not an easy thing to do. It's difficult to overcome that initial inclination to back up. But it's a healthy habit you need to acquire. And put to good use.

No doubt about it, it takes courage to keep pushing when things are going wrong. It takes resiliency to keep coming back when you get knocked down. It takes determination to keep pressing forward when problems threaten to overtake you. It takes grit, guts and tons of tenacity to get anywhere worth going. But if you truly want to reach your goals, it's the only way to go.

Are you ready to make your move? Are you ready to make something happen? Are you ready to take charge of your life and start making your dreams come true? Then you've got to stop backing down, stop backing away and stop backing up... and start backing up your plans with some big time action.

Why let troubles and problems have the final say?

When trouble rears its ugly head, smack it right between the eyes. And then throw it out the door. When problems come creeping into your life, punch them square in the gut. And then fling them down the street. When difficulties try to sneak in and steal your happiness, kick them in the pants good and hard. And keep pounding away until they run and hide.

Then and only then can you start living life like it was meant to be lived.

By refusing to back down or back away when life gets tough, you draw a line in the sand. A line that says you absolutely REFUSE TO LOSE. You refuse to allow problems a chance to dictate the progress you make. You refuse to allow troubles an opportunity to dominate your day. You refuse to allow life's difficulties to stand between you and the life you are destined to live.

Got back problems? Well here's a quick cure. Get your courage back. Get your confidence back. Get your fire, your passion and your hunger for the best life has to offer back. Get excited. Get energized. Get back in gear.

And you'll get back in the game.

The Bottom Line: When problems try to push you around, don't be a pushover. Push back - and push back hard.
