Power Up Passages

The Best Things In Life.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

November 18, 2009.

"The best things in life aren't things." Art Buchwald

What are truly the best things in life? The answer depends a great deal on who you ask. There are some who would insist it's cash in the bank. There are others who would quickly assert a shiny new car fits the bill quite nicely. And of course a nice house would top of a number of lists as well.

There's nothing wrong with those selections. But can the best of life really be summed up in dollars and cents - or material possessions? Are cars and homes and cash really the very best life has to offer?

While there is nothing wrong with having or wanting more money or nicer things, our real personal wealth has got to be something much deeper, much more meaningful than just... things.

Oh, I know, some will say that I've got it all wrong. They will maintain the only thing that counts is how much you can accumulate over time. That's their opinion - and that's fine. After all, the quality of a person's life depends on how that individual defines happiness. Their opinion is the only barometer that matters, the only thing that counts as far as they are concerned. If the accumulation of material possessions is their definition of happiness, so be it.

I just happen to believe there's a lot more to life than just stuff.

"Don't go through life, grow through life." Eric Butterworth

Are the individuals who have managed to amass the most money really the richest amongst us? Or how about the folks who reside in the biggest homes, drive the most expensive cars or wear the coolest fashions? Are these people really richer than those who possess fewer THINGS?

If an abundance of material things is truly the pathway to happiness, why are so many rich people so miserable? And why are so many people who are considered poor so happy and content?

Maybe, just maybe there's more to life than gobs of stuff.

Many confuse things with happiness, money and stuff with the best of life. And that's their prerogative. But when you're talking about individual wealth, the personal possessions that really mean something, it's got to be deeper than that.

"There must be more to life than having everything." Maurice Sendak

The people we meet, the friendships we forge and the wonderful times we share with others are some of the best parts of life. How about the adventures we experience or the values we forge? What about the happiness we hold within or the defining moments that forever shape our lives? These are real things, wonderful things; things a lot bigger than stuff.

These moments - and so many more - build us, shape us and make us stronger. They make our lives richer, fuller and more rewarding. They make us who we are - and what we are destined to become.

No amount of cash, not even all of the money on earth, can buy even one of these priceless possessions.

"Wake up with a smile and go after life. Live it, enjoy it, taste it, smell it, feel it." Joe Knapp

And here's the best part - these invaluable riches are in abundant supply. They are everywhere you look, everywhere you turn. You need to see them - seize them - and make them your own.

By consistently making the most of your moments on earth, you can live a life filled with abundance. A life filled with happiness. A life filled with richness. A life filled to overflowing with gifts, blessings and all of the great things life offers up.

Your life can be - and needs to be - the life you've always dreamed of living. When you open your eyes to the beauty that surrounds you, you'll see riches you never knew existed. When you open your mind to the countless opportunities all around you, you'll discover abundance beyond your wildest imagination. When you finally open your heart to life's greatest treasures, you'll uncover the meaning of true wealth.

And become rich beyond compare.

The Bottom Line: Life's riches lie within.
