Power Up Passages

Something Worth Fighting For.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

February 11, 2009.

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."
Mark Twain

Fights are rarely fun. In fact, given a choice, most of us would gladly eschew fighting altogether. After all, constant squabbling and bickering with others can sap our strength, zap our enthusiasm and wreck havoc on our day. And generally make us feel lousy to boot.

But like it or not, we're not going to get along with everyone we meet. Try as we might, there's no way we're going to agree with 100% of the people 100% of the time. Disagreements and misunderstandings are just going to happen. Some with people we know, some with people we don't. But these differences of opinion are no big deal unless we make them one. So here's an idea: let's not.

Instead, we need to just let go and get on down the road.

"There would be no passion in this world if we never had to fight for what we love."
Susie Switzer

Yet sometimes fights must be fought. That's right; sometimes we must choose to stand and fight. Fight for the things we stand for, fight for the truths we hold close. Fight for what we believe is right; fight for the things that make our lives special, meaningful and worthwhile. Fight for the things that define us and make us who we are today.

When our freedom is threatened, when the things that make us who we are and what we're all about come under attack, we have to stand up and fight. In those defining moments, when push comes to shove, we must not run and hide but rather shove back. And shove back hard. We need to draw a line in the sand and defend our turf, refusing to retreat or back down.

"Victory is always possible for the person who refuses to stop fighting."
Napoleon Hill

Ironically, our most important fights are the fights we rarely choose. In fact, more often than not, these fights choose us. They single us out and confront us. They challenge our beliefs, our resiliency and our commitment to liberty. They challenge what we believe and what we're all about. They challenge our strength and willingness to fight back. And they pick a fight.

We must stand firm - and have fortitude to fight back.

If you're not willing to fight for what you think is right, sooner or later you'll lose those rights. If you're not prepared to stand up and defend what you believe in, eventually your beliefs will be taken away. The liberty to choose what you say, think and do are without question some our most priceless of priceless possessions.

Yet they are anything but free.

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Benjamin Franklin

Many of us take our freedoms for granted, scarcely giving them a second thought. We just assume these freedoms will always be there, always be readily available whenever and wherever we need them. Yet nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, in many places around the world, people have lost their freedoms because they lost their will to fight.

What about you?

You have things in your life that make you happy, that bring you peace and make living worthwhile. Are you prepared to stand up and fight for them? Are you willing to fight for your beliefs, those ideals and principles that define what you're all about? You need to be. In fact, you have to be ready to rumble.

And fight for all you're worth.

The Bottom Line: Fighting for what you believe is right can never be wrong.
