Power Up Passages

Personal Foul.

"Refuse to be average. Let your heart soar as high as it will."
A. W. Tozer

Whenever we talk about personal responsibility; we are talking about two big-time, power-packed, heavy weight words. Words that carry a powerful wallop, words that tell the world what youre all about. But they're much more than just words. A whole lot more. They represent an attitude, a mind-set, a 'buck stops here' way of thinking that separates the players from the pretenders.

When it comes to personal responsibility, either you have it - or you don't. Yes, it's really that cut and dried. You're either someone who takes full responsibility for where you are in life and where you're headed - or you're not. You're either a person who is totally accountable for your actions - or you're not. You either busy making things happen - or busy making excuses.

So which side of the fence are you on right now?

"The price of greatness is responsibility."
Winston Churchill

Responsibility was once the foundation of society. No matter how little people actually had at any given time, they knew if they would work hard enough, smart enough and long enough, they could rise up and seize their dreams. Their fate was right where they wanted it - in their own hands.

Unfortunately, this sense of responsibility has gradually given way to a sense of entitlement. While people still want to get where they want to go, many are unwilling to pay the price to get there. Rather than accept responsibility for their current lot in life, far too many habitually blame their jobs, their family, the economy& in fact, they blame just about everything and everyone for what they dont have in life. Constantly pointing their fingers in every direction but theirs, they fail to see whats really missing in their lives. And thats accepting personal responsibility.

So they continue to live a life of doing without.

"Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else."
Les Brown

It's almost as if some folks walk around with blinders strapped on, never seeing the abundance that surrounds them daily. They are so caught up in what they don't have and what they supposedly can't do that they never appreciate the boundless opportunity all around them. Instead of just going out and making the most of their God-given abilities and talents, giving life their very best shot, they manufacture one mealy-mouth excuse after another. And what do they get in return for their never-ending litany of excuses?

A lifetime filled with heartache, heartbreak and unfulfilled promise.

Edmund Hillary really put things into proper perspective when he said, It is not the mountains that we conquer, but ourselves. No truer words were ever spoken. Is there any question that the toughest mountain any of us will ever have to scale is Mount Personal Responsibility? When you accept personal responsibility for yourself and your actions, you can move mountains. Eschew it and you can barely move a molehill.

So what's it going to be?

"Life is a promise; fulfill it."
Mother Teresa

Are you ready to take responsibility and take control of your life once and for all? Then do it. Don't wait for something to happen, get happening yourself. Don't sit around waiting for the right time or place to come along; get something going right where you are right now. And for goodness sakes, stop making excuses. You need to give them the boot once and for all.

You have everything you need to get anywhere you truly want to go. Yes, you do. Its in your heart; its in your soul, it's in your hands.

Don't just talk about what you'd like to do. Go do it.
Don't wish you had more. Go get it.
Don't hope things will get better. Get out there and make them better right now.

Want more time for the things you love? Become more efficient.
Want to have more happiness? Then get happy yourself - and start spreading it around.
Want to experience more fun and excitement? Then make your life more fun and exciting.

You need to take where you are and where you are going personally. If you're not happy with where your life is going, then change things around. If you're not pleased with what you're doing, then do something else. Never, ever forget that youre the one in charge.

So why don't you grab life by the horns and make your life all that you have ever dreamed it could be and more? And do it right now.

The Bottom Line: Take responsibility and you'll watch your life take off.
