In a world where getting what we want is the name of the game, just the thought of doing without can really bum us out. After all, most of us want what we want. And we want it right now. Not sooner, not later, but right this minute.
'Instant gratification is not soon enough' seems to be today's ever-present mantra.
Unfortunately, in our never-ending quest to get everything we want, we tend to pick up a lot of excess baggage along the way. All sorts of undesirable stuff somehow find its way into our lives; a ton of unwanted junk manages to come along for the ride. Worst of all, these worthless odds and ends accumulate over time.

In our unruly rush to have it all, we make mistakes. And keep making them. Rather than slow down and earn the things we want, we attempt a variety of ill-fated short cuts. As a result, a wave of poor decisions are made, a rash of bad habits are developed. We end up nowhere close to where we wanted to go and, worse yet, up to our ears in stuff that we definitely don't want - and absolutely don't need.
Ironic, isn't it? In our attempt to get everything we want, we are saddled with a pile of debilitating garbage that negatively impacts virtually every facet of our lives. And this scrap heap of rubbish just continues to grow. How in the world did we stray so far off course?
And how do we get back on track?
"Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit."
Instead of desperately chasing everything we want, maybe we should first clear the path. That means getting rid of things we don't want and don't need. And getting rid of them right now. When we start tossing the trash, we discover something we never saw before. We actually start doing better when we start doing without.
Doing without... the limits that keep us down.
Doing without... the constraints that hold us back.
Doing without... the distractions, disruptions and disturbances that impede our progress.
And doing without... all of the things that prevent us from getting the things we really want in life.
It just makes sense, doesn't it? If we can systematically eliminate the obstacles and barriers that have stopped us in the past, then shouldn't we be able to get where we've always wanted to go? Absolutely
So are you ready to start doing without?
"If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."
You get the ball rolling by listing the things that have previously held you back. Anything and everything that's been a roadblock needs to be cited. And don't forget to take a look in the mirror while you're at it! Once the list is compiled, it's time to crank up the bulldozer and start plowing your way around, over or through these impediments.
Each and every one.
If something is holding you back, you need to run right it over. If people are holding you down, you should run right around them. Regardless of what's placed in your path, you need to bulldoze right through it. And keep dozing. Before long, you'll find yourself doing without.
And getting those things you have always wanted.
The Bottom Line: Start doing without and you'll start doing some incredible things.
