Power Up Passages

Consider It Done.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

May 15, 2008.

"To get something done a committee should consist of no more than three people, two of whom are absent."
Robert Copeland

Life can feel like a busy, bustling flurry of activity; with frenetic, frenzied, full throttled action taking place all around us. There are people going here, things happening over there, all kinds of action going on just about everywhere. But amidst all of this motion and commotion, what exactly is getting done?

There are millions of people who are busy all day long but rarely if ever accomplish anything of note. It's not that these folks are devoid of talent or fail to put forth an effort; they simply lack a concise, consistent game plan.

"Determine that the thing can and shall be done, and then we shall find the way."
Abraham Lincoln

There is a big difference between being busy and actually making something happen. In fact, the difference is bigger than big. You can be busy and get things done - and you can be busy and never actually get anything worthwhile accomplished. So being busy isn't the key to success.

Getting it done is the name of the game.

Still many people never once differentiate between being busy and being productive. These misguided individuals erroneously believe that if they're busy, scurrying and scampering all about, then they must be getting something done. And in most instances that's simply not the case.

"Just do what must be done. This may not be happiness, but it is greatness."
George Bernard Shaw

Getting things done takes focus, not hocus-pocus. And that means zeroing in on whatever we wish to achieve, painting an imaginary bulls-eye right on the target. And then immediately implementing a proactive game plan to make it come about.

All the hurrying and hustling in the world won't accomplish much of anything at all if we're not productively using our time. We can go wide open 24/7 but if we're not actively pursuing our goals, really focusing on the tasks at hand, we can get eventually lost in the shuffle. Instead of flailing about and not getting much of anything completed, why don't we try a different tact? Why don't we concentrate our time and talents on doing whatever it takes to get the job done and see what happens?

Not only will we stop wasting our days and chasing our tails, things will start getting done; one right after another, time after time.

"The biggest reward for a thing well done is to have done it."

There are few feelings more gratifying than finishing what you start. To take an idea, a dream or an aspiration and then make it come to life through persistent, focused effort is truly one of the most rewarding sensations you'll ever experience. Regardless of whatever it is that you seek to achieve in life, the only way to get it done is to, well... do it.

You need to forget about being busy and focus your full attention on making your dreams come true. Set your sights on accomplishing your grandest thoughts; focus your efforts on fulfilling your fondest dreams. Then get to work and make them happen.

Before you know it, they will be done. Each and every one.

The Bottom Line: Get focused, get going, have some fun and get it done.
