Power Up Passages

Off The Beaten Path.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

March 21, 2008.

A well-beaten path does not always make the right road.

If there's one troubling trait many people have in common, it's a tendency to follow the crowd, to do what everyone else is doing. A quick glance around will reveal a not so surprising fact of life: the vast majority remain on the beaten path, refusing to stray very far from the rest of the pack.

What's the deal here? What's up with this herd-like mentality? Why do so many choose to faithfully follow the crowd no matter what, even when the crowd never gets them remotely close to where want to go? As crazy as it sounds, many take comfort in simply going with the flow.

"If you want to succeed you should strike out on new paths, rather than travel the worn paths of accepted success."
John D. Rockefeller

Many believe that following the crowd is the safest way to go. After all, the beaten path is filled with other folks doing basically what everyone else is doing; time after time, day after day. This well-worn trail is conventional, predictable, almost comforting.

Not to mention being about as exciting as a root canal.

While the risk of failing or falling short is shared among the masses, so are the rewards. As a result, there isn't all that much being divvied out; at least nothing all that great. Everybody gets about the same, everyone has about the same, and the whole group stays about the same. An average group of people living an average lifestyle.

"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Is that really how you want to live your life, hanging out with the crowd and going nowhere particularly fast? I didnt think so.

Rather than living a cookie-cutter lifestyle where you aimlessly follow the crowd, blindly doing what everyone else does, how does trying something a little different sound to you? In fact, why not throw caution to the wind and try something a good bit more exciting, a lot more stimulating, a great deal more rewarding?

Why not discover how far you can go? Why not find out how much you can accomplish? Why not break free of the pack and start doing your own thing - on your terms, in your own way?

"If you listen to what you know instinctively, it will always lead you down the right path."
Henry Winkler

The moment you escape the confining clutches of the crowd and start doing what you were born to do, you experience an electrifying sense of renewal. You feel refreshed, revived, and reborn. Your life suddenly takes on heightened meaning as you start living each day the way it was mean to be lived; with a purpose, passion and zeal you've never felt before.

Rather than following the well worn path left by others, why not blaze your own trail and see where it leads you? And while going it alone can prove to be risky, even downright scary on occasion, you will also discover it to be the most rewarding experience on earth.

Instead of walking in the footsteps of others, why not get off that beaten path and boldly step into the promising future that beckons beyond - and create your own set of footprints?

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverge in a wood, and I
Took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
- Robert Frost -

The Bottom Line: Don't walk where others have walked, but courageously walk where others dare not tread.
