It's easy to get a little down every now and then. There is not a person on earth who hasn't found themselves down in the dumps on occasion. Not one. Regardless of how highly motivated or optimistic any of us are, we're still going to experience some down moments in our lives. That's just the way it goes. But then again, so what? Getting down is one thing, staying down something else altogether.
Like it or not, we all get down. Probably more times than we want to do, that's for sure. It's easy to get depressed and dejected when things don't go our way. Real easy as a matter of fact. It's even easier to get down in the dumps and stay there when life's problems begin piling up - seemingly one after another.

How we handle our individual moments of despair and desperation dictate the direction of our lives. We can choose to get out of the funk and get going again as quickly as possible or alternatively, we can allow ourselves to fall deeper and deeper into a destructive downward spiral of depression and despondency. Which one sounds better to you?
The main reason so many people get down in the doldrums and remain there is it is relatively simple. They get down and then stay down. Instead of fighting the feeling and clawing their way out of the mess, they just go with the negative flow; blaming virtually everyone in sight for their seemingly helpless, hopeless plight. They dupe themselves into believing they are victims; never once realizing they are totally responsible for pitiful, pathetic predicament they're in right now.
"When times are tough, dare to be tougher."
Ever been there? Ever done that? Sure you have, we all have been down that doom and gloom road before, having thrown the proverbial pity party for ourselves a few too many times. But what has feeling sorry for yourself ever gotten you? What good has ever come from feeling bad? Exactly.
Look, it's OK to be down and out. That's right, being down and out isn't all that bad as long as the OUT portion of the equation is positive in nature. Whenever we get down, we must immediately start working to get out of the mess as quickly as possible. And that means seizing control and making something happen right then, right there. Something positive, something constructive, something that gets you moving in the right direction.
Whenever you sense those disheartening, disabling feelings of doubt starting to creep in, you need to jump to your feet and start moving. And don't waste one second worrying about what you don't have or what you cannot do. Instead, focus your entire attention on what you can do right this minute - and then do it!
"Dare to be the best you can at all times. Dare to be!"
The minute you start feeling down, start looking up. Don't get caught up in the negative funk that's attempting to drag you down in the muck. You need change and you need it right now.
Change the tempo, change the scenery, change the momentum; in fact, change just about everything you're doing at that moment. By changing what you're thinking, what you're saying and what you're doing, you can change your direction and get moving in a positive direction. You'll not only break out of your doldrums, you'll rediscover the best life has to offer as well.
The Bottom Line: Whenever you start feeling down, start looking for a positive way out.
