"Some of the world's greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible."
Take a quick glance around and you will see all sorts of remarkable, truly incredible feats being performed by all sorts of people daily. Astounding, almost miraculous feats of strength and courage taking place all around us; spectacular, awe inspiring feats that literally take our breath away.
These fabulous, life changing feats are being accomplished by a quite diverse spectrum of individuals, each possessing a wide array of varying talents and abilities. Some of these feats are achieved by individuals many would consider exceptionally talented. However, an equal if not greater number of life's most amazing feats are routinely pulled off by those rarely considered the most gifted.
"Nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent."
How do you account for the fact that many people few would consider extraordinarily gifted constantly outshine and outperform others who are considered much more talented? How do so many of life's so-called 'average' folks routinely achieve extraordinary results day in and day out? And why do some of the most profoundly talented people on earth rarely if ever accomplish anything of note?
More than anything else, it comes down to what these people do - or don't do - with the natural talents they possess. These ordinary sorts have the courage to give life everything they've got every single day, persistently laying it all on the line. By consistently radiating super extraordinary energy, excitement and enthusiasm in everything they say, think and do, these people consistently produce extraordinary results time after time.
"Life only demands from you the strength that you possess. Only one feat is possible; not to run away."
While each of us have unique abilities, what we do with these gifts ultimately determines our lot in life. The most successful, by and large, are those who continually challenge themselves; constantly pushing to get the most out of what they've been given. This kind of resolute commitment to excellence paves the path to a lifetime of achievement.
So how about it? Are you maximizing the talents you possess? Are your days an all-out effort, where you constantly push to get the most out of what you've been given? Or do you give somewhat less, maybe even a whole lot less than you could? Are you driven to succeed, constantly looking for ways to improve yourself and your performance - or are you continually looking for the easy way out?
"Nature arms each man with some faculty which enables him to do easily some feat impossible to any other."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hey, it is easy to chalk up your failures and shortcomings to bad breaks or unfortunate luck of the draw. It's even easier to say you lost to someone more talented, gifted, smarter, etc. than you. Easy, sure; but not very productive.
Instead of shortchanging yourself, constantly beating yourself up or knocking yourself around, why not throw your entire heart and soul into the mix and see for yourself what you can accomplish? Rather than wading around in the shallow end, why not jump feet first into the deeper end of life and see what happens?
Forget about talent, natural ability and all that other stuff. Sure, talent is nice, but nothing on earth can beat a person who refuses to be beaten. You hold within yourself all the talent and tenacity you will ever need to forge a lifetime of outstanding achievement. If you're willing to exhibit the kind of extraordinary will and determination necessary to achieve your dream, nothing can stop you. Absolutely nothing.
Ready to start enjoying a phenomenal, fantastic, unbelievably fabulous future well beyond your wildest imagination? Then get in the game! Don't concern yourself with what anyone else is doing. Just focus on doing your very best, using your God given abilities to their fullest potential.
Instead of saying I'm not good enough, smart enough or talented enough to get the job done, why not say I can do it - and then get busy getting it done?
The Bottom Line: In order to perform truly extraordinary feats, you must first truly believe you can.
