Power Up Passages

Maximum Strength.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

September 21, 2007.

"Success is the maximum utilization of the ability that you have."
Zig Ziglar

Take a quick glance around and you'll quickly discover that far too many people far too often give far less than theyre capable of giving. Most of these people could do better - in fact, many of these folks really want to do better - but truth be told, they're just not willing to push themselves a little bit harder to get there. So they end up settling for less than they could have and should have had. And that's a shame.

There are others who achieve a modicum of success and then promptly proceed to sit on their laurels. You would think that a taste of the good life would whet their thirst for something even better, something even bigger. But for one reason or another, they stop doing those things that allowed them to be successful in the first place. As a result, they ultimately slip right back to where they started. And that's a shame too.

"Don't let good enough be good enough."
Bill Parcells

Why do so many of us allow good enough to be good enough? Instead of settling for second place finishes and second rate lifestyles, why don't we push ourselves a little more than we do? Or even push ourselves a LOT more. Good questions that rarely have good answers.

Rather than push ourselves to see how far we can go, we oftentimes just do barely enough to scrape by. We conjure up, concoct and devise all sorts of ways to get out of doing the hard work and the heavy lifting. Yet it is precisely that hard work and heavy lifting that can take us anywhere we have ever dreamed of going.

Come on now, is barely scraping by the legacy you really want to leave behind? And besides, do you want a life of mostly doing without to define what you're all about? No, not when you can do better, a whole better in fact. The only question is whether you WANT to do better.

"There are countless ways of attaining greatness, but any road to reaching one's maximum potential must be built on a bedrock of respect for the individual, a commitment to excellence, and a rejection of mediocrity."
Buck Rodgers

Good enough can never be good enough if you're really serious about chasing your dreams. With talk increasingly cheap these days, what you do speaks volumes about your internal drive and desire.

Do you give just enough to get by or do you strive to give it everything you've got every time out? Do you give out or give up when the going gets tough or do you shift into overdrive and plow ahead until you get the job done?

Do you ever reach a point where good enough is good enough or do you consistently strive to get better daily, somehow finding the 'oomph' to push yourself a little higher, a little farther? Do you work at maximum capacity, pushing yourself to new heights daily or do you instead look for the easy way out, barely scratching the surface of your God-given potential? Do you shoot for the moon or perhaps aim a little lower; maybe quite a bit lower?

"Success, in general, means the opportunity to experience and to realize the maximum forces that are within us."
David Sarnoff

Let's face it; it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to stand out in a world where the bare MINIMUM seems to rule the day. Don't concern yourself with what those around you are doing (or not doing for that matter). You need to do whatever it takes to make yourself better daily. WHATEVER IT TAKES. Not always an easy gig, but one well worth the effort.

Does that mean you will probably have to work a little harder, maybe a whole lot harder than you have in the past? More than likely. And will you have to push yourself harder than you have ever pushed yourself? Probably so; but then again, so what? Isn't reaching the goals you've set for yourself worth the extra effort?

Why settle for good when something spectacular, something special, something truly great is there for the taking? Good enough can never be good enough, not for someone special like you. It's time to give life everything you've got each and every day. Forget about the minimums and focus on giving your maximum. When you do, you'll discover a life that is everything it could be and should be... and a whole lot more.

The Bottom Line: Give your best and you'll discover the best life has to offer.
