Power Up Passages

Why Can't Just Doesn't Cut It.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

August 25, 2007.

"Can't doesn't cut the mustard."
Greg Hickman

Is it just me or does it sometimes feel as if the world has become a great big CAN'T; a seemingly ceaseless compilation of what collectively can't be done? Everywhere we turn and everywhere we go, we encounter a never ending string of excuses and reasons why things aren't getting done. And it can become frustrating, to say the very least.

One can't followed by another can't followed by another. If you're like me, you get tired of hearing people say, 'I can't do this, I can't do that.' Real tired, in fact. What you want is more action and fewer excuses; more getting the job done and less mealy-mouthed rhetoric. You just want people to do what they're supposed to do - when they're supposed to do it. And you want them to do it right now.

"Nobody cares about what you can't do."
Greg Hickman

Truth be told, you really don't give a hoot about what somebody else 'can't' do. But hey, guess what? Nobody wants to hear any of your excuses either. That's right; nobody cares about what you can't do. N-O-B-O-D-Y. Regardless of how well you think you can justify and explain away why you didn't get the job done, the fact is you didn't get the job done. And all the excuses in the world isn't going to wash what you didn't do away.

People don't want to hear your excuses. Period.. Regardless of how reasonable your reasons for falling short sound to you, to the rest of the world they all sound feeble, weak and lame. Excuses just don't cut it most people's minds. They want results.

"Instead of making excuses, why not make something happen?"
Greg Hickman

You don't like people to tell you they can't - and they don't want to hear it from you either. So how does that other shoe fit?

When it comes to making things happen, do you consistently do what you're supposed to do, when it is supposed to be done? Or do you constantly conjure up one excuse after another, attempting to explain away why you didn't do what you needed to do? Do you embrace life's most demanding challenges, searching for ways to make things happen or do you instinctively blurt out a knee jerk 'I can't' instead?

Each and every day you get to choose whether you're going to make excuses or alternatively, make something happen. Something so special, something so senasational, something so super spectacular that it can truly make your day.

That life-changing choice is yours and yours alone. So what's it going to be?

"Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're always 100% right."
Greg Hickman

By forgoing the excuses and boldly forging ahead, you can make a huge difference in the life you live. Absolutely HUGE. Way too many people have made making excuses an art form. They're good at it, real good in fact. Unfortunately, they invariably live a life of doing without as well. They think they can't and they're right. In life, what you think is what you get.

So why not think you can instead? In fact, why not KNOW you can do it? Rather than waste even one minute making excuses, why not believe, deep down where it really counts, that you can get the job done? When you knuckle down and give life your very best shot daily, there is virtually nothing on earth you cannot do.

You can do it. Yes, you CAN.

The Bottom Line: Don't make excuses - make something happen.
