"It might be good to open our eyes and see."
If you've ever glanced at your side view mirror while driving, you have no doubt seen the words 'objects may be closer than they appear' inscribed on the mirror. This warning lets you know that the mirror makes objects such traffic and the like look a little further away than they actually are.
This same premise holds true when we're talking about the realization of our goals and aspirations in life. That's right; the lives we long to live are much closer than they sometimes appear to be. Yet we seldom see it that way.
"We don't see things as they are; we see them as we are."
Our vision of life as it could be frequently becomes clouded by the problems and pressures that surround us daily. Instead of seeing the abundance of opportunity all around us with clarity, we tend to focus in on the obstacles and stumbling blocks in our paths because they are right there - smack dab in our faces all of the time. Before long, our lives can become so overrun and overwrought with clutter that our dreams eventually fade out of sight.
Oh sure, we'd love to achieve our dreams and live the life we've always imagined ourselves living. The life we've felt in our hearts a thousand times over. The life we deserve to live. But when push comes to shove, we oftentimes get pushed around and ultimately end up resigning ourselves to much less than we desire; reasoning that there's just too much standing in our way.
"Creation begins with vision."
More often than not, that something standing between ourselves and the attainment of the elusive life we desire is none other than us. That's right; overcoming ourselves is almost always the biggest challenge we'll ever encounter on the way to living the good life.
Now don't get me wrong. Very few of us would ever intentionally sabotage ourselves. But far too often we are the very ones who habitually pull the plug on our own success. Instead of taking control and living our dreams daily, we frequently settle for a lifetime of mediocrity where second best and second rate rule the day. Rather than giving life everything we've got and taking our very best shot, we hold back. We are so worried about failing that failing is all we end up doing. We fail to take a chance, fail to give life a go, fail to let it rip and see what happens. As a result, too many live a lifetime of squandered opportunities; a lifetime of what might have been.
"The whole of life lies in the verb seeing."
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
How about you? Is your life everything it should be and more? Are you passionately chasing your dreams or frittering your life away chasing your tail? And if you're not where you want to be right this minute, what's holding you back? What's keeping you from seizing the best life has to offer each and every day?
Instead of worrying and fretting about all of the obstacles in your path, why not turn your attention to something much more positive, something much more rewarding? Something like making your dreams come true. Rather than allowing daily problems and pressures to get the best of you, why not get the best of them while moving relentlessly towards making your dreams a reality?
Living a life of doing without is not your destiny. You were put on earth to thrive, flourish and prosper - to achieve, accomplish and attain your DREAMS. To make them happen - and happen right now. The life you've long to live for what seems like forever is closer than it appears. It is right there, so close that you can reach out and grab it.
So why not grab it right now and never let it go?
The Bottom Line: When you start seeing life as it could be, you'll start living life as it should be.
