Power Up Passages

The Path of Least Persistence.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

July 21, 2007.

"Persistence is to the character of man as carbon is to steel."
Napoleon Hill

Have you ever wondered what in the heck has happened to the proverbial get up and go in the world? It doesn't take a whole lot of looking around to see there's a whole lot less people going than there used to be. In fact, it sometimes feels like the vast majority of people out there have very little 'oomph' left in them. It's as if their get up and go has gotten up and gone.

OK, it's not fair to lump everybody into this category. There are some folks out there giving life their very best effort day in and day out; passionately pursuing their goals with dogged determination. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there are a lot more people just going through the motions than actually getting something done nowadays.

"Seeming to do is not doing."
Thomas Alva Edison

So what's the deal? What in the world is going on here? Why are so many of us adapting this lackadaisical, lethargic approach to living? Instead of embracing life and its endless rainbow of opportunities, why are so many people perfectly content to barely scraping by? I just don't get it. I guess someone needs to clue me in.

Every single day I see people with an endless array of God given talents and gifts following the path of least persistence, choosing to unnecessarily squander the genius they hold within. Rather than push themselves to see how far they can go, they never even get out of the starting gate. And instead of making the most of each day they're granted on earth, they lethargically allow one day after another to steadily morph into a hazy, lazy blur of inconsequential nothingness. What a needless, inexcusable waste.

That, of course, doesnt mean we dont make excuses for failing or falling short. If there is one thing many of us are quite proficient at, it's tossing out one excuse after another. Instead of working harder, it's easier to quickly concoct an excuse for our lackluster effort. And rather than knuckle down and get the job done, it's always a lot easier to conjure up a reason for not doing what we needed to do. But what does easy and greatness have to do with each other?

My point exactly.

"Energy and persistence conquer all things."
Benjamin Franklin

You hold within yourself the capacity for greatness; an incomparable, intrinsic power that knows absolutely no bounds. It's there, always has been. And it's ready to take you anywhere and everywhere you've ever dreamed of going. Whether you choose to use it, abuse it or just simply lose it will determine what you accomplish in your time here on earth.

Will your life become a resounding exclamation point, where you ultimately forge a lifetime of achievement and triumph, a lasting legacy of excellence in everything you say, think and do? Or will it instead become a fleeting footnote in history, a broken trail of shattered dreams and unfulfilled promise? It's up to you. Are you ready to step up?

"Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish."
John Quincy Adams

Rather than shy away from life's challenges, why not summon the strength you hold within and meet them head on; with nothing held back, nothing left behind? Instead of following the path of least persistence, why not rise up to the challenges presented and blaze your own trail - choosing to make your life everything you have ever dreamed it could be?

You hold the power deep within that yearns to be turned loose. Anything and everything you've ever wanted, every precious hope and dream you've felt in your heart, can be yours if youre willing to just go out and make it happen. Forget about the path of least persistence. That's not what you're all about. You're about getting up and making something terrific happen. And making something terrific happen right now.

When you get up and get going, giving it everything you've got daily, there's not an obstacle or problem on earth that you cannot overcome. Not one! If you're finally ready to see each and every dream you hold in heart come true, then get up, get going and keep going until you get the job done.

The Bottom Line: When facing resistance, show persistence.
