"Ideas are a dime a dozen. People who implement them are priceless."
Mary Kay Ash

Throughout the course of the day, we constantly generate a flurry of ideas. Sometimes the ideas dribble in one by one and sometimes they come rushing forward in a fast and furious fashion. There are big ideas, small ideas, wild ideas and even off-the-wall ideas; ideas of all sorts, shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, we are usually too busy doing whatever we are doing to even realize they're there.

We typically generate way more ideas than we ever act upon. Even in those moments when we actually see an idea race across the silver screen of our minds, we rarely if ever do anything to capture it and bring it to life. Rather than seize the idea and see where it takes us, we just keep on keeping on, hum drumming our way through another ho-hum day.

"If at first the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it."
Albert Einstein

Why don't we grab the ideas that that grab us daily? Why are we so quick to ignore and dismiss the ideas that we generate every day? More often than not, we feel the idea is too outlandish, too outrageous, too totally bizarre to even be considered remotely doable. So we don't do anything about it. BIG MISTAKE.

Napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow Rich once said, "All achievements, all earned riches, have their beginning in an idea." Notice it he didn't say some of the achievements or some of the riches? And when Earl Nightingale stated, "Everything begins with an idea," he said it all.

Think about it, EVERYTHING! we use each and every day sprang from a single idea that was acted upon. Not discarded, not ignored, not casually tossed away as undoable or unreachable - but acted upon with purpose and passion until it became a reality.

"A single idea, the sudden flash of a thought, may be worth a million dollars."
Robert Collier

How many of your ideas have come and gone without you never once doing anything about them? How many more are you willing to let slip away because you never had the courage to act? If you're truly ready to make something special happen in your life, you must work on closing the generation gap - the gap between the generation of ideas and generating the results you seek. Ready? OK, let's give it a whirl.

Whenever your mind captures a priceless idea, don't sit back and do nothing. Grab it the idea with gusto, and then do something about it. Right then, without delay, hesitation or second guessing. Rather than waste precious time prejudging whether the idea has merit or not, why not give it a whirl and see where it takes you? It may very well take you on the ride of your life.

"Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen."
John Steinbeck

Now will every idea you try pan out? Of course not; in fact, most of them will fizzle somewhere along the way. But so what? It only takes one idea to turn your life completely around. The key is to keep working and working your ideas.

And don't be overly concerned that your ideas may seem a little bit crazy to others. In fact, don't be concerned at all. If an idea that isn't a bit kooky, a little bit offbeat, a little bit out there, then it's probably not really worthy of being called an idea at all. The most astonishing discoveries in the history of mankind generally began as some sort of quirky notion in the mind of one single individual.

When an idea gets you so stirred up with excitement and enthusiasm that you can barely contain yourself, then it's definitely an idea worthy of pursuit. But an idea without action is little more than a lost opportunity. That means you've got to get busy pursuing the idea with everything you've got. If that idea doesn't work, do something else. And if the next one's a bust as well, then move on to another idea. And keep going until you hit one out of the park. Then grab the next idea and do it again and again and again.

Generating new ideas will never be a problem. Your mind will continue to pump them out for the rest of your life. The only question to be answered is simply this: will you generate the action required to generate the results you seek? Hopefully you'll answer in the affirmative, seizing the day by seizing your ideas and the opportunities they present.

The Bottom Line: In order to generate the results you seek, you've got to generate the action required to make them happen.
