Power Up Passages

Actual Results May Vary.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

April 29, 2007.

"Great results cannot be achieved at once; and we must be satisfied to advance in life as we walk, step by step."
Samuel Smiles

If you've ever watched TV, as almost every one of us has done, you have undoubtedly been subjected to thousands of commercials that make some pretty wild claims. Regardless of whether they're talking about helping you lose weight, stop smoking or make outrageous sums of money, these commercial blurbs attempt to draw you in with their intoxicating, alluring message.

Then, in order to really seal the deal, they trot out a procession of people who boast about how they have lost weight, stopped smoking or become filthy rich using the promoted products or system. They play off the fact that a lot of people want what these people have, right here and right now. Not tomorrow or the day after, but right this very minute.

While these testimonials go on and on about how the product or system changed their lives, there is always some sort of small print buried at the bottom of the TV screen that says something similar to this: your actual results may vary.

No kidding.

"People who produce good results feel good about themselves."
Ken Blanchard

Obviously these commercials are carefully orchestrated to sell. They wouldn't dare dream of parading out a group of losers who were still overweight, still smoking or still dead broke. The name of their game is to sell, sell and sell some more; and that means getting you to cough up your dough any way they can. And showing you people who have what you want is a great place to start.

Their gimmick is predictable yet profitable: show you a group of giddy, giggly, almost goofy folks spouting about how great the product is and someone's sure to bite. After all, there seems to be no shortage of people who want to be as giddy and giggly as those folks in the commercial. Who knows for sure if their claims are true - and who really cares except those who give it a whirl. Given the choice (and you do have a choice), wouldn't you much rather develop your own personalized game plan that's custom tailored just for you?

"Work joyfully and peacefully, knowing that right thoughts and right efforts will inevitably bring about right results."
James Allen

Let's face it, there are no two people on earth that are exact carbon copy replicas. In fact, to say that each of us are distinctively different may be the biggest understatement of all time. We have our own likes and dislikes, our own strengths and weaknesses. We have different personalities and dispositions, responding to people and situations in our own unique way. So regardless of what the commercial folks tell us, no one size fits all.

Chances are good that all the commercials and advertisements in the world will never uncover your personal pathway to success. The only system that works for you is, well... the system that works for you. As a matter of fact, how you define success and how every other person defines success will never be one and the same. NEVER! The ONLY way to truly discover your pathway to success is to get out there and find out for yourself.

"When we have done our best, we should wait the results in peace."
John Lubbock

So where do you start, how do you begin? That's easy to answer, not nearly as easy to do. Why? Because you have to start right here with what you have right now. You have to get going and make adjustments on the fly. But here's the key: the only sure-fire way to happiness is to play to your strengths; to passionately pursue those activities you love. And to pursue them with everything you've got.

Far too many of us work overtime trying to emulate others when we should simply just be ourselves. From the time we are small children and on into adulthood, we too often copy what others say and do, expecting to yield the same results along the way. Yet copying what others have done will rarely if ever yield the exact same results. In the end, we often end up disappointed and disillusioned in the process.

You are who you are and you need to do things in your own way. Not someone else's way, but yours and yours alone. Rather than following the lead of others, always trying to copy their every move, why not create your own moves and boldly blaze your own trail? Instead of worrying and getting worked up about what other people have, why not focus your efforts on pursuing those things you absolutely love to do and making your life everything you want it to be?

Getting where you want to go means doing your own thing, in your own time, in your own way every single day. You need to emphatically embrace your individuality, basking in the brilliant radiance of your own sunshine daily. And one last thing, don't be surprised when your results vary from those of others. After all, you are who you are - and that's a very good thing.

The Bottom Line: Want better results? Then give a better effort each and every day.
