Power Up Passages

Know Way, Know How.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

February 20, 2007.

"All men by nature desire knowledge."

There are very few things more aggravating than dealing with a self-proclaimed know-it-all. I'm sure you know the type; boastful big talkers who profess to know just about everything about, well... just about everything. If you listen to these blowhards toot their own horns, they quickly assure one and all within earshot that they know all there is to know about the topic at hand. Give me a break, Jake.

Contrary to what some of these braggarts believe, no one can know it all. NO ONE. Regardless of how much someone knows or how proficient they are in their particular field of expertise, there is always much more knowledge that can be learned, gleaned and acquired with each passing day. To presumptuously believe that anyone could possibly corner the market on all of the information pertaining to any specific subject is just plain foolish.

"An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest."
Benjamin Franklin

In a our rapidly changing society, where cutting edge technology flies around the world in mere fractions of a second, what we know today can change in the blink of an eye. Better, faster and more efficient ways of doing things are discovered daily. In fact, there's only one thing that remains constant these days and that's change. The things we know are constantly changing. That means the manner in which we do those things must change as well.

The very best in every walk of life didn't get there by accident. Quite the contrary. These achievement oriented winners got to the top and then stay on top through their ravenous, relentless pursuit of knowledge. Their seemingly unquenchable quest to obtain as much knowledge as they can keeps them ahead of the curve and in front of the pack. They realize knowledge is king and that there is absolutely no limit on what they can learn on any given subject.

"Be curious always, for knowledge will not acquire you; you must acquire it."
Sudie Back

Where do you stand in the knowledge acquisition department? Are you continually seeking new ideas and uncovering new approaches to those things you do daily, constantly craving as much information as you can get your hands on? If so, your success path is headed straight to the top... with a bullet! Or are you still stuck in the same old routine, doing what you've always done day after boring day? If that's the case, you're undoubtedly headed to the bottom of the heap... with an anchor.

You see, the minute we stop learning, we stop growing. It's as simple as that. No matter how much we currently know, there's always more to know, to learn, to discover. Without the continual infusion of brand new information and fresh new approaches, our personal development inevitably grinds to a screeching halt. The only way to grow is to acquire knowledge; the more, the merrier. It is truly amazing to observe the number of people who stop reading, absorbing and acquiring information the minute they get out of school.

Our educational process is ongoing; a life sustaining, life enhancing, life promoting process that can take us anywhere we've ever dreamed of going. On the other hand, the failure to make ourselves better in the constantly evolving environment in which we now live inevitably places us further and further behind the proverbial eight ball.

"The learning and knowledge that we have, is, at the most, but little compared with that of which we are ignorant."

Oh sure, we can conjure up a litany of excuses and concoct a potpourri of reasons why we don't have the time, energy or resources to continue our personal and professional development. But that's all they are: worthless excuses and worn out reasons that get us absolutely nowhere. The we're too tired, too busy or too this or that justifications that we wantonly toss about just don't cut the mustard. Let's face it, there is always time available to increase our knowledge. Always.

If we truly desire a better life, that super sensational life we've imagined ourselves living a thousand times over, it's imperative that we rededicate ourselves to getting better daily. And using our time wisely is a great place to start. Instead of mindlessly wasting hours upon hours watching television, playing video games or yacking away on the telephone, why not choose to spend our time a bit more sensibly, a bit more productively, discovering new ways to improve our knowledge? All sorts of highly innovative, imaginative, inventive ideas are flowing all around us, readily available if we'll only take the time to look.

Do you have to get better in life? No, you don't. Do you have to improve your knowledge? No once again. But please remember this one thing. Those things you have done in the past have led you directly to where you are today. If you're truly happy right where you are right now, then fine. Keep on doing whatever you've been doing. But if you want to change where you are and take your life to a whole new level of happiness, contentment and overall enjoyment, you must first change what you do. And the very best way to get the ball rolling is to start learning and then keep learning each and every day for the rest of your life.

The Bottom Line: As soon as you get the know how, you'll know the way.
