Power Up Passages

Letting Go.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

January 27, 2007.

”You have the power to change.”
Les Brown

Life can be a real challenge on occasion. Even on the best of days, we encounter dangers and difficulties that severely test our tenacity and mental toughness. In these most trying of times, it’s imperative that we bring out our very best. Yet more often than not, we leave our best behind.

Instead of making the most of the moment at hand, we remain stuck in a sizable rut, refusing to let go. Refusing to let go of the past, refusing to let go of all the bad habits that have kept us down for way too long. Rather than taking charge of our lives and boldly charging ahead, we unwittingly allow past frustrations, fears, anger and anxiety to keep us stuck in our ‘place.’

”Conquer your bad habits or they will conquer you.”
Rob Gilbert

Far too often we hold on to things that we don’t want and don’t need. Negative things, upsetting things; in fact a wide array of self-destructive habits and self-defeating practices that make our lives more difficult than they need to be. Yet for one reason or another, we cling tightly to these discouraging and disabling tendencies.

Why on earth do we hang on to bad habits that constantly keep us upset and on edge? Why do we keep all sorts of things bottled up inside of us; things we could do without, things that prevent us from doing within? In a way, bad habits are like a comfortable bed, easy to get into, but hard to get out of.

Like the packrat who can never throw anything away, we stubbornly refuse to cast aside these self-deflating proclivities. It’s almost as if we are afraid to let go; afraid to allow ourselves a chance to start anew.

”When you're through changing, you're through.”
Bruce Barton

Oh sure, we know that we need to get rid of the bad habits and bad feelings that hold us back and prevent us from living life on our terms. But doing something about it is always a little more challenging. Letting go is one of the most difficult tasks we’ll ever face in our lifetimes, but one of the most valuable as well.

If we’re ever going to make our mark, we’ve got to be willing to make our move. Why should we ever hold on to things that hold us back? We’ve got to be willing to let go of anything and everything that prevents us from moving forward. And that means letting go; letting go of our bad habits and replacing them with something much better.

”Change your thoughts and you change your world.”
Norman Vincent Peale

You need to let go of your fears… and replace them with a quiet confidence, knowing that God has graced you with the power to overcome any and all adversity you’ll ever face. And you need to let go of your worries and anxieties… and replace them with steady self-assurance, trusting in your God given strength and resilience.

You need to let go of your self-doubts and reservations… and replace them with a soothing self-confidence — a comforting feeling of ‘I can do it’ within. And you need to let go of all of the anger and frustrations pent up inside of you… and replace them with a calming composure and patience that resolutely refuses to be ruffled.

By simply letting go of each and every thing that has held you back and held you down in the past, you put the past to bed once and for all. By letting go of all the things you don’t want and don’t need, you vow to never allow outside influences and circumstances the opportunity to disrupt your life ever again.

Isn’t it about time that you stop letting the ‘bad’ things in life get to you and let it all go instead? Yes, you can take control of your life. Yes, you can have, be and do all the things you have dreamed about. And yes, you can live the life you deserve to live right now. Yes, you CAN; just let go.

The Bottom Line: When you let go of the things you don’t want, you free yourself to grab all the things you do want in life.
