Power Up Passages

Anchors Away.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

September 13, 2006.

“To reach a port, we must sail — sail, not tie at anchor — sail, not drift.”
Franklin D. Roosevelt

Do you ever feel like you’re tied down, seemingly stuck in the same place day after lackluster day? If you are like most of us, you have experienced that ‘tied down’ feeling every now and again; maybe even more times than you care to admit.

And when that tied down feeling shows up and starts taking control, it tends to take away as well. It can take away our hope, our desire and our get up and go — replacing them with despondent feelings of despair, fatigue and hopelessness. Instead of feeling happy and optimistic, we begin spiraling downward into a gloomy and pessimistic funk. Been there? Sure you have, we all have — and it’s not a place where you want to stay.

“The person who goes farthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare. The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore.”
Dale Carnegie

The first step out of the gloom and doom environment that being tied down creates is to realize that you’re there in the first place. Too many people slowly but surely fall into a disheartened state of mind, never once realizing that they’re stuck in the proverbial rut; way down deep in the dumps.

Oh sure, they know that things are not the way they want them to be, but they keep plugging along nonetheless. Making no changes and not surprisingly, making no progress as well. One dreary, dull, uninspiring day after another drag by until a lifetime of opportunity has passed them by.

“It is better to err on the side of daring than the side of caution.”
Alvin Toffler

If you continue to replicate the same moves that landed you into that humdrum rut to begin with, doesn’t it make sense that you’re going to stay there? Of course it does! If you want to get out of the rut and begin fashioning a life that you’ve dreamed about, you must start making some new moves. That means making exciting moves, exhilarating moves, electrifying moves that inspire your heart and stir your soul.

Instead of allowing your life to sink into a bleary, bleak existence where you struggle to barely scrape by, why not choose to get out of the rut and get into a positive paced groove? Rather than getting tied down and risk loosing the best life has to offer, aren’t you ready to finally cut loose of the anchors that have held you down in the past?

“There is as much risk in doing nothing as in doing something.”
Trammell Crow

When it comes to choosing between an anchored down or the sky’s the limit mindset, should there really be any contest at all? Come on, why wouldn’t you want to unhook that anchor and let those tied down feelings that have haunted you for what seems like forever sink completely out of sight?

By adopting an ‘anchors away’ approach to living, refusing to allow anything or anyone the opportunity to drag you down, you make downtrodden days a distant memory. Better yet, by ridding yourself of life’s anchors once and for all, you can finally unleash your God given potential and soar to heights you’ve never thought possible.

The Bottom Line: As soon as you take a load off — by unloading the anchors that tie you down — you’ll be taking off.
