Power Up Passages

Trouble Shooter.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

May 31, 2004.

"He that seeks trouble never misses."
English Proverb

Troubles, troubles, troubles; doesn’t it sometimes seem as if life is a never ending stream of nonstop problems? After all, you’ve got troubles over here and some troubles over there; troubles and more troubles popping up virtually everywhere. And as if having more than your fair share of troubling situations isn’t enough by itself, you’ve got to DEAL with this potpourri of problems. And that’s generally not a whole lot of fun.

Ignoring your problems or turning your back to your troubles may temporarily ease your burden, but aren’t you merely making matters worse when you stick your head in the sand? Of course you are. The trouble with trouble is simply this: if you don’t deal with your troubles and deal with them right away, troubles tend to multiply — and multiply very quickly. Then, before you know it, you’ve got a world of trouble beneath your feet. That’s precisely why you must train yourself to become a world class trouble shooter.

“Troubles are often the tools by which God fashions us for better things.”
Henry Ward Beecher

I will quickly concede that taking on life’s most difficult challenges is rarely a walk in the park. But hey, nobody has ever said that living is easy. Let’s get real here, who wouldn’t prefer a carefree lifestyle completely devoid of troubles than one wrought with problems left and right? But like it or not, we’re going to have to deal with troubles and the better we become at doing so, the better the life we’ll get to enjoy.

Like every other winner that has walked this planet, you’ll discover that facing the music by facing your problems is far preferable than tucking your tail and running from trouble. Simply stated, the manner in which you approach your troubles can make a world of difference in the world in which you get to live. By becoming a trouble shooter, learning how to proficiently gun down problems before they get out of hand, you forcibly take charge of your life while taking control of your destiny on earth.

“I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.”
Mark Twain

Instead of shaking and quaking when trouble comes a calling, why not take matters into your own hands by shooting down trouble right from the start — never giving it a chance to get its mitts on you? By refusing to back down or back away and then boldly blasting around, over, under or right through trouble when it shows its face, you display the courage it takes to flatten trouble square in its tracks. Flatter than a pancake as a matter of fact — and that’s pretty flat.

And speaking of life’s troubles, one of the biggest problems we’ll ever encounter is that internal war that constantly wages within ourselves; all that worrying, fussing and fuming we invariably do about all of those troubles that are yet to be — troubles awaiting somewhere out there on the horizon. Can there be a bigger waste of time, talent and energy than worrying about things that may never occur? I truly doubt it.

“If you see ten troubles coming down the road, you can be sure that nine will run into the ditch before they reach you.”
Calvin Coolidge

OK, it’s time to fess up; how many times have you worried, fretted and made yourself sick over something that never came to pass? And on how many other countless occasions have you anticipated trouble well in advance, only to be relieved that trouble somehow managed to pass you by? Go ahead and admit it, you’ve spent more than a few moments worrying about all sorts of things, haven’t you? Did any of those palm sweating, energy sapping, nerve fraying worries and doubts do you one bit of good? No, they didn’t, did they? In fact, all that time and effort you expended on worrying about what may or may not happen were invaluable, priceless resources you needlessly frittered away, irretrievably lost and gone forever.

Why should you ever waste even one moment of your treasured time that could be better used chasing your dreams, making your life everything it could be and should be? You shouldn’t. And why in the world would you ever again squander even one ounce of your remarkable, awe-inspiring energy when you can better utilize it fashioning a life that you were born to live? You won’t any longer, will you?

Benjamin Franklin, who knew a thing or two about getting the most out of what we have been given, cautioned us long ago about the dangers of needless worry when he said, “Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.” You too can discover that sparkling ray of sunshine by refusing to worry about life's toils and troubles. When you start looking at the brighter side of things, putting your problems into their proper perspective, you'll soon find yourself basking in the beauty of the life you deserve to live.

The Bottom Line: When you finally stop worrying about life’s problems, plights and predicaments, you’ll find that life’s troubles will no longer trouble you.
