Power Up Passages

More Than Expected.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

January 21, 2004.

“There is no man living who isn't capable of doing more than he thinks he can do.”
Henry Ford

If there is one quality that separates the real winners from just about everyone else, it is this: the winners are always willing to do more than expected while the rest of the crowd does as little as they can get away with. The winners are more than willing to go the extra mile while the pretenders have a hard time just doing the bare minimum. So which category fits you best: player or pretender? Why don’t we take a closer look and let you judge for yourself?

Do you consistently summon the get-up-and-go to always give it another shot, regardless of how weary or worn out you feel or do you give in to fatigue and quickly toss in the towel? Do you constantly give it everything you’ve got every time out or do you find yourself just mailing it in on occasion? The manner in which you respond to the rigors of daily life speaks volumes about your level of commitment to excellence.

“Always render more and better service than is expected of you, no matter what your task may be.”
Og Mandino

Getting in the healthy habit of religiously giving more than people expect is by means no easy task. After all, it is ALWAYS far easier to take the easy way out of just about everything. Reaching deep down and pushing well beyond your present capabilities takes a special type of tenacity and toughness that very few people are willing to demonstrate.

The minute the going gets tough — the select few players get going while the rest choose to simply get lost. There are very few people who are willing to grab life by the horns and give their very best effort day in and day out. It’s a daunting challenge to keep picking yourself up over and over again, resolutely refusing to give up or give in. And for those who have the staying power to persevere while the majority falls by the wayside, the rewards far exceed their wildest dreams.

“Always do more than is required of you.”
George S. Patton

Giving more than is expected always involves way more work than most people are willing to do. And going beyond the call of duty, doing more than is required is generally way more than most people can handle. When push comes to shove, most people are shoved aside while the true winners rise like cream to the top and give the extra effort that only champions know how to give.

Are you prepared to step forward and assume your rightful place among the winners in life? You bet you are! But taking that next step up into the big leagues means that you’ve got to be ready to push yourself again and again, pressing yourself to give well considerably more effort than you have exhibited in the past. After all, that’s what doing more than is required is all about.

“We must give more in order to get more. It is the generous giving of ourselves that produce the generous harvest.”
Orison Swett Marden

If you are finally fed up with settling for life’s leftovers, sick and tired of coming up on the short end of the stick, you can do something about it — and do something about it right now. In order to get more than you have ever got, you must be willing to give more than you have ever given, over and over again.

But what’s the big deal? You have more good stuff inside of you than you can possibly imagine. You just need to bring that good stuff to the outside — and then give it away. That’s right; you need to literally give yourself away each and every day. And we’re not talking about giving a little over here and a little over there, but giving all of you all of the time, starting right this minute.

Now don’t get worried; you’ve got more than enough to go around. You just need to give and give and then give some more, showering gifts and kind deeds on everyone you are privileged to touch and meet daily. You’ll have the time of your life as you help those around you have a nicer, happier, much more rewarding day by just being in your company.

But here’s the kicker. Whatever you give will come back to you tenfold, maybe even a hundred times over. And to make things even better; the more you keep giving, the more you’ll receive back in return. By constantly looking for ways to do more than is expected of you, you’re going to get more than you ever dreamed was possible. And that’s a little extra I’m sure you can get used to in a big time hurry.

The Bottom Line: Instead of looking for the easy way out of everything in life, why not look to immeasurably enhance your life by giving more than people expect?
