Power Up Passages

Wishful Thinking.

Brought to you by
The Power Performance Program ©

January 19, 2004.

"Where there is life there is wishful thinking."
Gerald F. Lieberman

We all have a number of wishes, those treasured dreams that we hold down in our hearts and souls. These dreams come in all shapes and sizes; dreams about those things we wish to accomplish or dreams about the magical moments we hope to live. And it’s in the passionate pursuit of these wishes that we find our zest and zeal for living.

While fervently wishing for your super special dreams to come true is a start, in fact a great start; it is only the beginning of taking your life to another level of achievement. You not only need to ardently wish for your dreams to come to life, you must also pursue your dreams with all of your might. And sadly, far too few people do.

"Destiny grants us our wishes, but in its own way, in order to give us something beyond our wishes."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Each of us was born with the ability to dream in dramatic fashion. Just think back to your younger days for a moment. Before life had taught you a number of lessons on what you supposedly could and couldn’t do, wasn’t it absolutely amazing what your incredibly fertile mind could concoct? Back then; BIG, BOLD, LIFE SIZE DREAMS were the rule of the day, weren’t they?

There wasn’t anything you couldn’t do, be and have. No dream was too big, no wish unattainable. Anything and everything you could see in your mind's eye would suddenly spring to life and you LIVED it with fire and fervor, never once believing it couldn’t be done.

"Stop the mindless wishing that things would be different. Rather than wasting time and emotional and spiritual energy in explaining why we don't have what we want, we can start to pursue other ways to get it."
Greg Anderson

But now, older and supposedly wider, you merely engage in wishful thinking, having long since given up on making your cherished dreams come true. Oh sure, you’d love to bring back the magic of your youth and live out your wishes with childlike enthusiasm, but you figure, “What’s the use?” What in the world happened?

While there is nothing at all wrong with wishing for your dreams to come true, you must be careful not to sit around and wish your life away. Instead of daydreaming about the good life, you need to get up and get busy, chasing that good life with an almost reckless abandon. Reach out and grab it — and then live it like never before.

And as far as the tired “What’s the use?” excuse, give me a break! As long as there is a breath left inside of your soul, there is never any excuse for not going for it with everything you’ve got.

"You must go after your wish. As soon as you start to pursue a dream, your life wakes up and everything has meaning."
Barbara Sher

Why put the chance of living the good life on layaway when you can start living it right now? I urge you to start dreaming some super sized dreams; I mean astounding, amazing, awe inspiring dreams that stir you from head to toe. And I encourage you to wish for those things you truly desire, tossing hesitation and doubt out the window. After all, if it’s worth pursuing, then isn’t it worth giving it your very best shot?

Life just doesn’t get any better than living it in the manner it was meant to be lived, on your terms and in your own way. A life with nothing held back, nothing left undone. When you start pursuing your dreams and aspirations with the zeal of a crusader on a mission, your life will immediately take on heightened meaning, granting you an unparalleled feeling of contentment and fulfillment.

Better yet, your life will continue to get better each and every day, far better than you ever dreamed was possible, as long as you have the courage to continually chase your dreams. And best of all, there is no limit on how much better it can get. So get off your duff and get with the program. Dare to dream big, dare to act big and dare to make your life a life worth living.

“When you wish upon a star,
Makes no difference who you are,
Anything your heart desires will come to you."

— Jiminy Cricket —

The Bottom Line: Instead of just wishing for the things you desire in life, why not go out there and make them come true today?
