I bet we all wish we had a dollar for every time we have heard someone say "you are what you eat." If you are like most folks, you have heard this adage time and time again. In all likelihood, most of us would have quite a nest egg put away at a dollar a pop.

Whenever we hear this statement, we naturally think in terms of feeding our bodies. And while our bodies certainly require proper nourishment to stay in peak condition, properly feeding our minds is just as important — if not more important — for our overall well being and health.

We are not only what we eat, we are also what we think as well. After all, if we fail to provide our minds a steady diet of positive thoughts and positive reinforcement, our minds will feed off of whatever that’s out there — and that might not be such a good thing.

If you do not control what goes into your mind, you unfortunately forfeit control of what you will get out in return as well. Why do you suppose so many people that could have, that should have and probably wished they would have now find themselves on the losing end of life?

Did the debilitating outside forces of life prevent them from reaching and fulfilling their destiny? Well, sort of. They have allowed, whether by design or by default, these outside forces to have free reign over their lives and their future. Instead of these winners' inside forces controlling their outside thoughts, words and deeds, the exact opposite is occurring and that is not a good situation to be in. Not a good situation at all.

While properly feeding your mind is the most important nourishment your body requires, the overwhelming majority seem much more concerned with feeding their stomachs. They feel hungry, so they eat. They realize that if they fail to feed their bodies, they will atrophy and eventually die. Yet these same people ignore the fact that the same premise holds true for their minds as well.

We all know when our stomachs are hungry, but how can we tell when our minds are in need of nourishment? It may surprise you that our minds are always hungry and in fact possess a ravenous appetite for knowledge, information and ideas.

You can satisfy that hunger by immersing your mind with a persistent parade of positive thoughts, positive ideas, positive goals, positive visions — positive this and positive that. In fact, anything and everything that goes into your mind should be P-O-S-I-T-I-V-E in nature.

Sounds pretty tough — or does it? Winners perpetually accentuate the positive, constantly putting the good stuff in order to get the good stuff out… and so should you. They continuously look for the positives in everything they think, say or do… and so must you. These champions ceaselessly expect positive results and they get them … and so will you the minute you start feeding yourself from the inside out.

The Bottom Line: It’s time to start practicing a little internal medicine and bring out your very best.
