"Failure is an event, never a person; an attitude, not an outcome."
Zig Ziglar

Life is in many ways very similar to a race course, where each and every day you put your best to the test. In order to come in first you must not only start the race, you must also finish the race as well. And if you truly want to have a chance at coming out on top, you’ve also got to get ‘in the race’ too. That means you must challenge yourself to get in there where the action is fast and furious. And it’s that getting in there that becomes the hardest part for so many people.

Whenever you put the peddle to the metal and mix it up a bit, there’s always the possibility of being bumped around or even knocked out of the race. There's no doubt about it, life is definitely a full contact sport. If you’re going to play, there is always the chance of getting hurt. Yet the only other alternative is to lay way back from the pack, hoping to avoid any pile ups or collisions whatsoever. While laying back may eventually get you to the finish line, you’ll never set any records or turn any heads in the process.

"Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently."
Henry Ford

Winners believe there is only one way to run their own race: at full throttle — with nothing held back. Now these achievers realize that they are going to careen off course every once and a while, but that fact doesn’t slow them down one bit. They just get back on the track and get back in the race.

They also understand that they will crash every so often as well. When they do, they simply get back behind the wheel and put the hammer down again. Nothing is going to stop them from ultimately reaching their goal of coming out on top. Any setback is viewed as only temporary in nature, a necessary building block in their maturation process.

"Being challenged in life is inevitable, being defeated is optional."
Roger Crawford

In its simplest terms, no one can defeat a person who refuses to be beat. Isn’t this the type of attitude you would love to carry with you twenty four hours a day? By never giving up or throwing in the towel, you develop a refuse to lose attitude. When you fully integrate this attitude with an all out commitment to excellence, it’s no longer a matter of if you will win — it is only a matter of when.

As Charles F. Kettering once said, "Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement." Whenever or wherever you come up short or lose out in the short run; all you need to do is simply get up, get better and get going again. By refusing to give up or give in, you can quickly get up back in the race. By constantly looking to glean something from each and every setback you encounter, you will stop replicating mistakes and begin making some real progress. And before long, you’ll start taking home the grand prize — a life you’ve always imagined yourself living.

"Fear of failure must never be a reason not to try something."
Frederick Smith

Once you condition yourself to view missteps and mistakes as nothing more than another step in the process of getting better, you’ll quickly learn to overcome any and all of the challenges life tosses your direction.

Don’t get all caught up in worrying and fretting over making a mistake. After all, mistakes are simply a part of life. Any and all mistakes can be overcome if you have the heart and desire to do so — and make no mistake about it, you do indeed possess the heart of a champion.

It’s time to start living your life the way it was meant to be lived, with all of the energy, excitement and all out enthusiasm you can generate. You need to buckle up, head out on the track and start playing your life at the right speed — full speed. And then hold on tight as you get ready for the ride of your life!

The Bottom Line: When you finally start playing life at full speed, you’ll pass your crash course with flying colors.
