A lot of people talk about getting some down time, where they can step away from the hectic world around them and just plain relax. No hustle, no bustle; no pushing, no shoving — just some good old fashioned peace and quiet.

Winners have learned how critical setting aside some periodic down time is to their success. They insulate themselves from the potential of getting burned up and worn out by earmarking one, two, three or more breaks throughout each and every day. They have not only learned how to set aside this all important down time for themselves, but have also discovered how to convert this down time into PRIME TIME for self improvement.

The top performers use their break time to feed themselves a healthy diet of positive, optimistic, inspirational thoughts. By temporarily shutting out the crazy commotion going on in the world around them, they use their prime time to constantly build themselves up and bolster their can do spirit. They utilize these breaks to confidently reassure themselves, through positive self talk and reaffirmation, that they have do what it takes.

Think about your usual day for a moment. You hurry here, your hurry there. You juggle this, you juggle that. You are pulled and tugged and yanked in all sorts of directions at once. You need to do this, you need to do that. You need to be here, you need to go there.

You feel like there are a hundred things that need to be done right this minute and as a result, nothing is getting done. In fact, it seems like your life is spinning around and around in circles, going no where fast. You start feeling unappreciated, overwhelmed and turned upside down, all at the same time. Don't try to deny it, we've all been there before.

The good news is you can short circuit this destructive spin cycle by strategically scheduling some prime time for yourself every two hours or so. Wouldn't several of these positive self talk sessions, interspersed throughout your day, offer a refreshing break and an opportunity to get back on track?

It takes a little work and a lot of personal commitment to incorporate this healthy habit into your daily routine. This commitment, like anything else worthwhile in life, requires discipline and determination in order to make it happen. But once you get into the habit of setting aside a few minutes of prime time every day, where you build yourself up and reaffirm your ability to get the job done, you will no longer feel turned upside down anymore.

The Bottom Line: You can turn your upside down life right side up by taking a break when you really need it.
