Power Up Passages

Striking gold in the 'lost and found' department.
March 14, 2003.

Back in my college days, I worked at the local YMCA during my summer breaks. Like most Y's, we had a lost and found box which was usually filled to the brim with all sorts of worthless stuff. The majority of the things in the box were junky items that most folks would probably prefer remain lost.

But every once in a while somebody would come to the front desk where I worked inquiring about a lost article. I would pull out the box and sometimes that missing item was right there in the box. It was very rewarding to see someone's face literally light up big and bright when a special something that had been lost was now returned to them.

How about you? Have you ever lost something that was precious and priceless? Do you remember that empty feeling that accompanied losing that irreplaceable item? Then, when that missing something was found and suddenly returned to you, didn't your entire attitude immediately change for the better?

This lost and found story is the story of life.

Far too many of us have managed to lose the most priceless, precious possession we have ever owned. That invaluable, irreplaceable something is that special winning spirit each of us holds inside of ourselves. And by losing it, we have also lost much of our passion and purpose for living.

In order to restore that missing magic to our lives and recapture our zeal for living, it is imperative that we find that special something once again.

Now don’t worry or fret about having lost your winning spirit, you still have it burning deep down in your heart and soul. Regardless of how long you have neglected it, your winning spirit is still there, patiently waiting to jump at the chance to win once again. Even after years of neglect and misuse, your unfailing winning spirit is alive and well and is ready, willing and able to take charge of your life right here and right now if you're willing to give it a chance.

Isn't it about time to for you to start winning again? Instead of allowing everyone and everything to control your life, why not grab control once and for all and live the life you have always dreamed of living?

Aren’t you ready to find out just how good your life can become?

No matter how low you have sunk or how far behind you feel you have fallen, you still have what it takes. In fact, you have always had what it takes to win all along. But here’s the catch. You have got to want to win again to make it happen. To be more precise, you have got to want to win again more than you have ever wanted anything before in your life.

When you start wanting to win again badly enough – and sooner or later you will – you will reawaken your slumbering winning spirit and start making good things happen in your life.

It’s time to retrieve your winning spirit from the lost and found department and rekindle your internal fire. Then, once you have found your winning spirit again, never let it go.

The Bottom Line: You need to make winning YOUR way of life — each and every day – for the rest of your life.

Not until we are lost do we begin to understand ourselves.
Henry David Thoreau

Resolve to be thyself; and know that he who finds himself, loses his misery.
Matthew Arnold

If a man happens to find himself, he has a mansion which he can inhabit with dignity all the days of his life.
James A. Michener
