Power Up Passages

Positioning Yourself For Success.
February 24, 2003.

While there are exceptions to every rule, most of the so-called lucky people take an active role in creating their own good luck. The luckiest people I have ever known didn't all of a sudden fall into their good fortune. In fact, most of these lucky people probably endured more heartache and heartbreak than everyone else around them combined.

These folks, through their relentless commitment to excellence, positioned themselves to get lucky. They kept getting up each time they were knocked down. They kept learning from each and every mistake they made. They continued to improve all facets of their lives every single day. As they continued to work smarter and discovered even better ways of doing things, more and more good fortune found its way into their lives.

Giving their best effort day in and day out wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but over time their efforts started to pay off. The truth of the matter is their good luck and good fortune wasn't really luck at all. These people had positioned themselves to get lucky.

Isn't it interesting how the luckiest people are always those individuals that love everything about their lives? Being lucky and having a lot of good luck evidently must have a great deal to do with loving who you are, loving what you do and loving everything about your life. So if the outlook you carry around with you determines how lucky - or unlucky - you become, then doesn't it make sense to choose the right attitude for your life?

Strong individuals who habitually exhibit an optimistic and opportunistic outlook on life just seem to attract good luck and good fortune - and so can you. When you go about your daily activities expecting good things to happen, good things will most assuredly happen to you and for you. Maybe not overnight. Maybe not all of the time.

But when, not "if," you keep on plugging away, working smarter, finding new and improved ways to go about your daily tasks and keep expecting the best out of life, good things will start happening all around you. Then before you know it, people will start calling you just plain lucky too.

Regardless of the kind of luck you enjoy or endure in life - good luck, bad luck or no luck at all - you always get to do the choosing. So if you’re finally ready to change your luck and change it for the better, why not make the right choice and start positioning yourself for success right now?

After all, today just might be your lucky day.

The Bottom Line: Winners consistently choose to make their own good luck. And so should you!

I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.

The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment; it is not in luck or chance, or the help of others; it is in yourself alone.
Orison Swett Marden

We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don't like?
Jean Cocteau
