Power Up Passages

Have It Your Way.
February 10, 2003.

Winners are those fortunate individuals who have learned that they can indeed have things their own way. They do not use what others have or the way others do things as their measuring sticks. Instead, they choose to do the things they want to do and have the things they want to have. In short, winners set their own standards for excellence and so should you.

For starters, you must make absolutely certain that you never impose any speed limits on yourself. After all, life allows you to go as fast or as slow as you choose to go. If you’re like most of us, you have already lived through more low gear years than you care to remember. Regardless of whether you’ve been living life at full throttle, half speed or perhaps even been parked on the side of the road, isn't it time for you to get your rear into high gear?

God blessed each of us with supercharger for a mind, capable of taking us anyplace we wish to go. God also placed a supercharger inside our hearts, providing us a never ending source of strength to overcome even the seemingly unbeatable odds. With so much going for us right from the start, why do so many of us choose to sputter through life with the parking brake on?

Instead of going farther and faster, we sometimes find ourselves slowing down and even stopping in a futile attempt to play it safe. Come on, we know better than to fall for that play it close to the vest garbage anymore, don't we?

I encourage you to set your own speed in life, fast enough to make sure you are challenged but not so fast that it makes you feel uncomfortable or out of control. I suggest that you go fast enough to pick up a little speed each day. You want to progressively build the momentum, going a little faster and pushing yourself a little harder every single day.

Whenever you find yourself moving a little too fast, it's OK to slow the pace a bit as long as you never come to a complete stop. Never fully applying the brakes is your key to sustained growth. As long as you keep moving forward, day after day, the attainment of your hopes and dreams is assured.

With the wind at your back, it’s no longer a matter of whether or not you’ll reach your destiny on earth, it’s only a matter of when you’ll arrive. Remember, this is your life and you get to dictate your own speed.

As you become more accustomed to the faster pace, you will also find yourself getting more things done and feeling more confident about yourself. This positively charged, power packed momentum will soon provide you all of the energy you’ll ever need.

As you begin picking up the tempo, you’ll start noticing that those self imposed speed limits that used to slow you down or stop you cold are falling by the wayside. Then, before you know it, you'll be kissing those low gear years good-bye as you speed along into your fantastic future.

The Bottom Line: Since you get to set your own speed, why not choose to kick your life into overdrive today?

Energy and persistence alter all things.
Benjamin Franklin

Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal: my strength lies solely in my tenacity.
Louis Pasteur

The first requisite for success is the ability to apply your physical and mental energies to one problem incessantly without growing weary.
Thomas A. Edison
