Getting Carried Away.
February 1, 2003.

Have you gotten carried away lately? Now don't get me wrong here. I'm not suggesting that you get carried away in a straight jacket. What I'm talking about is being so super excited about the promise of a new day that you can barely wait to jump out of bed and get the day rolling full steam ahead.

Does this sound like the way you start off each morning? If not, then maybe you should get carried away -- starting today!

Winners are those super fired up champions that get carried away on a daily basis. They are so super excited about their lives and their fabulous futures that they approach each dawning day with a super charged enthusiasm. They get up and get going -- hitting the floor running at full speed. They have discovered that getting carried away is A-OK.

I was taught years ago that there were two basic ways people approached each new day. One passionate and energetic way was to jump out of bed and exclaim to one and all, "Good morning, Lord!" The ebullient individual possessing this dynamic approach is obviously raring to go and ready to take on the day. This person's upbeat and obviously optimistic attitude has set the table for a super successful day. This winner believes life is a big barrel of fun and fully intends to grab his or her share today.

On the other side of the coin, there is the bleary eyed person who lethargically drags himself or herself up out of bed and feebly complains to no one in particular, "good lord, it's morning." This lackluster and uninspired approach gets this individual's day off to an inauspicious start, to say the very least. Then it is all down hill from there.

Which approach should you choose? Boy, that's a tough one, isn't it? OK, but which attitude more closely resembles the way you begin each day? If it is the former, then hats off to you. You are really getting into the swing of things and your life is quickly changing, and no doubt changing for the better. If, on the other hand, the later course of action (or should we say inaction) sounds eerily familiar, it is time for you to get the lead out and get with the program.

If you find yourself somewhere in between, there is still plenty of room for you to get better as you get closer to fulfilling your ample potential.

When you welcome each day with the unbridled exuberance of a small child at a festive birthday party, you insure yourself a day chock full of fun, excitement and limitless opportunity.

Since your approach will go a long way in determining what kind of day you have today, why not choose to get it started the right way? It's time to get excited, get super fired up, get yourself going and what the heck ... get carried away ... all day long.

The Bottom Line: Don't hold anything back. You need to get cranked up, get excited and get carried away every day of your life!

One man has enthusiasm for 30 minutes, another for 30 days, but it is the man who has it for 30 years who makes a success of his life.
Edward B. Butler

People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.
Dale Carnegie

There is a real magic in enthusiasm. It spells the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment.
Norman Vincent Peale
