Winning places a great deal of emphasis on persisting when others around you are quitting. Being able to count on your resiliency and your ability to bounce back from clashes with adversity is essential for long term success in life. You must be able to readily tap into your internal reservoir of strength at those trying times when your energy level begins to wane. In short, you must possess an ample supply of self confidence to meet the challenges of day to day living.
There are very few things in life that give you a better feeling than possessing a strong sense of self confidence. A healthy dose of self confidence opens the doors and paves the way for the winner. When we speak of self confidence, we are not referring to a "me first" attitude or an arrogant, egotistical approach to life. Far from it. We will leave that high and mighty frame of mind to the legions of pretenders. When we talk of a winner's self confidence, we are addressing the quiet trust and confidence you need to develop within yourself.
A winner's self confidence is a powerful internal belief system that does not occur by accident. It takes an ample dose of commitment to nurture and develop a strong sense of self confidence. It requires a commitment of time, a commitment of focus and most importantly, a commitment by yourself to yourself. When you start believing in yourself, and I do mean really believing with all of your heart and soul, you will slowly but surely begin feeling more and more confident in everything you set out to do.
It all begins with you. You have to know, really know way down deep inside where it counts, that you can do anything you commit to doing. You can elevate and strengthen your self confidence by talking yourself up and refusing to talk yourself down. Please, please, please stop being overly critical of yourself. Instead of beating yourself up whenever you slip or make a mistake, why not take a positive approach and look for the good in the temporary setback and look for a way to do it better the next time around?
You can methodically nurture a super strong self confidence in yourself when you periodically engage in positive self talk. Don't be shy. Tell yourself you're good enough, you're smart enough and you're more than talented enough to make your dreams come true -- because you are! In order to bring out your very best, which by the way is plenty good enough, positive self talk must become a regular ritual in your daily routine. You should look for the good in every setback, recognize the many improvements you are making every day (yes, you are improving daily) and never be afraid of complimenting yourself on a job well done.
You will quickly discover that these daily affirmations of your own self worth will help quickly add that all important self to that much needed confidence.
