Power Up Passages

Sooner Or Later.
January 13, 2003.

I'm sure you have heard the old joke of how members of the National Procrastinators Club were going to schedule the date for their annual convention but never got around to doing it. While this may be a silly joke, how many people in this country lead their lives in a similar manner? Unfortunately, a lot more than you would like to think.

Procrastinators seem to believe that doing it later is just as good, if not better, than doing it right now. I said "seem to believe" because I am not convinced that they really believe that later is the better choice. The sooner or later crowd are generally those folks who repeatedly shy away from the personal responsibility that goes along with making choices.

Since they are reluctant to make choices, life makes these choices for them. They are then forced to live with these unwanted choices and whatever adverse effects these involuntary choices may have on their lives.

Winners know full well the importance of quickly making decisions and choices. The person who says "I'll do this or that sooner or later" is obviously not real interested in the "this or that." Power players never take a laissez faire attitude towards anything in their lives. They believe that if something is not worth pursuing now, it probably is not worth pursuing later either. On the other hand, if something is worth pursuing, winners believe in doing it sooner, not later.

Winners act, they do not wait and see. Winners never put important things off, they put them "on" instead. They firmly believe that sooner is much better then later and their actions boldly reaffirm their convictions.

The sooner you elect to do those things that need to be done right now, the better you off you will be as a result of your efforts. You will feel better for having the courage to make a choice and you will get better by taking the required action. By the way, there is one additional, invaluable bonus you will enjoy when you get in the habit of doing things sooner rather than later.

The sooner you do something that needs to be done, the sooner all sorts of good things will begin happening to you and for you. And that sure sounds like a great reason to start making things happen sooner rather than later; and the sooner - the better!
