Power Up Passages

Harnessing the Will to Win.
December 19, 2002.

Let's talk for a moment or two about two distinct forces that shape the lives of each of us. These two formidable forces are will power and want power. There’s little question that very few of us suffer from a shortage of want power. We want this and we want that. In fact, we generally want both this and that and we want them right now.

The world is overloaded with people who are really good at wanting all sorts of things. If you haven’t guessed it by now, the main reason that want power is so prevalent among us is that wanting is an easy thing to do. You don’t have to expend any energy or effort in order to want something.

When it comes to wanting things, talk is cheap. While it is easy to say, "I want to play the piano", it takes a lot more than just wanting to play to make it happen. In order to get what you want in life, you have to apply the will power to make it a reality. Far too often, this will power is in short supply. Wanting is easy, but exhibiting the will to make it happen is a whole different ball game entirely.

The power performers put their will power to work in order to get whatever they want in life. They know that if something is going to get done, then they must be the ones to do it.

Turning our dreams into reality takes an irrepressible will to win. Only this kind of irrepressible will power can help us go around, over or through any and all obstacles placed in our paths. Our indefatigable will power can keep us going, even when the road to success feels like a constant uphill battle. Want power has very little tangible strength without first combining it with will power.

Hey, all of us want to win and enjoy the best life has to offer. But when push comes to shove, many of us fail to demonstrate the will power to make it happen.

So how about it? Are you ready, willing and able to show the will to win, the will to be your best and the will to get the very best from life? You bet you are! In fact, you were born with the will power to do whatever it takes. All you need to do to get anything and everything you have ever wanted, is simply put that will power to work for you – right now.

Act quickly, think slowly.
Greek Proverb

Take time to deliberate, but when the time for action has arrived, stop thinking and go in.
Napoleon Bonaparte

You can't build a reputation on what you're GOING to do.
Henry Ford

If you want to know your past - look into your present conditions. If you want to know your future - look into your present actions.
Chinese proverb

Winning isn't everything - wanting to win is.
Vincent Lombardi
