In spite of all the data and studies that show how stress, pressure and tension negatively impacts our health and ultimately our lives, far too many of us equate success with an ever charging, never relenting, full steam ahead approach to life. While there is nothing wrong with living life at full speed, we should pay heed to our internal warning signals that tell us we are pushing ourselves well beyond the breaking point.
While we certainly encourage you to make the most out of every moment of every day, this does not necessarily mean you should go all out all of the time. If you routinely fail to provide yourself an occasional break from the hustle and bustle of day to day living, you will run the risk of burning yourself out. You can only push yourself just so far before you need to take a few moments to refresh, recharge and revitalize yourself.
The best technique for turning down the heat and reducing life's pressures is a relatively simple one. We simply need to learn how to relax.
When your tired mind begins producing tired thoughts, that is a sure fire sign that you need to take a "time out and let your mind unwind a bit. When your tired body can only produce tired results, it's time to call "time out" and take a break from the action. Whenever you feel as though your energy level is running on empty, why not simply call a "time out" and refuel and reenergize yourself? Nobody, and that certainly includes you and me, can go all out every minute of every day. We all need to take a time out every so often.
You can start the relaxation process by slowing your breathing and inhaling deeply, literally feeling the stress and strain diminish with each breath you take. At the same time, you should let your mind peacefully wander off into a carefree and tranquil setting. Visualizing relaxing images, such as a beautiful sunset or a picturesque mountaintop view, can help soothe your overworked mind and calm your soul. Take your time, you are in no rush. Remember, all of that rushing, hurrying and hustling caused the problem in the first place.
Its important to take your foot off of the accelerator every once in a while. Running yourself too hard, too often can literally run yourself into the ground. Learning how to relax will help your mind calm down and your body cool off just when you need it the most.
Then, after you have taken your time out, you can jump right back into the action better than ever.

The mind is never right but when it is at peace within itself.
Nothing can bring you peace but yourself.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then rest afterward.
In the midst of movement and chaos keep stillness inside of you.
It is requiste for the relaxation of the mind that we make use, from time to time, of playful deeds and jokes.
