Power Up Passages

A Daring Adventure.
December 14, 2002.

It’s always exciting to do something daring, isn’t it? Can there possibly be a more exhilarating, exciting, self-satisfying feeling on earth than when you take a chance – and then come through with flying colors?

However, it is precisely that “taking a chance” that petrifies some folks right down to the bone. They are so scared of making a mistake or taking a misstep that they choose instead to do nothing at all. They con themselves into believing that playing it close to the vest effectively insulates them from risk. They couldn’t be more wrong.

On the opposite end of the spectrum from the play it safe crowd are the real power players, achievement oriented trailblazers that believe that their lives must be a daring adventure where they are free to achieve – or their lives are nothing at all. These top achievers realize that life is far too precious to be left to chance or circumstance.

Can your life be a daring adventure too, where you totally throw yourself into it hook, line and sinker? It can be, in fact, it should be. Oh sure, any daring adventure always involves some degree of risk, but it also presents the potential of substantial rewards as well.

I am here to tell you that you simply cannot afford not to take a few risks and here is why. Whenever people shy away from giving life their very best shot because they are afraid of taking a risk and failing, they unwittingly saddle themselves with something far riskier. With their decision to do nothing and avoid the risk of failure, they are at risk of letting their lives slowly but surely slip away.

The very best have always been the risk takers. While these power performers rarely if ever engage in reckless behavior, they always seem mysteriously attracted to an imposing challenge. To a winner's way of thinking, there is nothing quite like the thrill of meeting a challenge head on and coming out on top.

What about you? What would you dare to do in your life and with your life if you absolutely knew you could not fail? If the possibility of failure could be completely removed, I bet you would dare to do some pretty exciting things, wouldn't you?

With the prospect of failing no longer standing in your way, you could now do the things you've always wanted to do – those things you were born to do. With failure no longer a possibility, you could now do the things you've always dreamed about doing and live the life you’ve always imagined yourself living. Anything and everything would suddenly be within your grasp.

So what is holding you back right now? More than likely it is that old bugaboo – the fear of failure.

Winners believe that the only failure they could ever experience would be choosing to give up and quit. To them, quitting and failure are one in the same. They realize that they simply cannot fail whenever they resolutely refuse to quit. Since these winners will not quit under any circumstances, they know deep down in their hearts that they cannot fail either.

The same goes for you. When you refuse to quit, then anything and everything you have ever dreamed of doing, having and achieving becomes instantly obtainable.

Wow! Could it really be that simple? You bet it is! Anything and everything is indeed possible when you dare to live your dreams, dare to push yourself to your limits and dare to soar to new heights every day.

I dare you to make your life the best it can be. In fact, I double dare you. Are you up to the challenge?

TODAY’S MOTIVATIONAL AND INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES

There are two kinds of adventurers; those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't.
Rabindranath Tagore

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Before success comes in any man's life he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat and, perhaps, some failures. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit. That is exactly what the majority of men do.
Napoleon Hill

For all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: "It might have been."
John Greenleaf Whittier

Take chances. When rowing forward, the boat may rock.
