Power Up Passages

Doing What Can't Be Done.
November 30, 2002.

Courage is a learned trait; an essential, battle tested characteristic that shapes our destiny. With all of the challenges and obstacles that are tossed in our paths on a daily basis, making the courageous choices in life is not always the easy road to follow.

It can even be down right scary to take a chance and risk putting yourself on the line these days. Whenever and wherever you make the courageous choice to lay it all on the line, there is always the chance that you may lose and dog gone it, nobody likes to lose – least of all that winner inside of you.

Yet millions upon millions of people routinely risk even more by deciding to do nothing at all. The mere prospect of losing almost scares them to death and as a result, they refuse to take any chances whatsoever. They instead elect to cower in fear, opting to accept whatever miserly handout life begrudgingly tosses their direction.

They have been repeatedly told they "can't" do this and they "can't" do that and they ultimately buy into all of that negative garbage, finally running up the white flag and surrendering themselves to a life without. Even though they have chosen not to play in order to avoid any prospect of defeat or failure, they end up becoming the biggest losers of all.

You must take a different approach if you’re going to stake your rightful place among the best of the very best. You must firmly believe you are going to win and then play to win right from the start. You can ill afford to allow the thought of losing to enter the picture or come into play.

You need to realize that nobody gives a hoot about what you can’t do. What you can’t do won’t pay the bills. What you can’t do won’t help you finish that important project. In short, what you can’t do won’t cut the mustard. People look at results. They want to know what you can do – and what you can do right now.

It is imperative that you look to glean something positive from every setback you endure. You must condition yourself to get better each and every time you get knocked down. You need to realize that any setback you encounter is only temporary in nature and simply represents yet another building block on your road to the top.

You’ll find that you can consistently do what ‘can't be done’ by just going out and doing it. As a matter of fact, you can do anything, especially those things that supposedly can't be done, when you have the courage to believe you can.

All our dreams can come true - if we have the courage to pursue them.
