Below are abbreviated excerpts taken from each Power Session of The Power Performance Program©

Excerpt from Power Session One entitled "Overcoming a Lifetime of Conditioning".
As I was growing up, I was literally force fed negative conditioning on a daily basis. My parents, friends, teachers, relatives, coaches, coworkers, in fact almost everybody I came in contact with repeatedly told me that I was not smart enough, not good enough, not strong enough, not this or that or the other. In fact, the list of my "limitations" was virtually endless.

Over and over and over again, this incessant infusion of negative conditioning was forcefully pounded into me through my daily interactions with all sorts of people. Ironically, the actions of many of these people, although negative in nature, were well intentioned. They simply did not want to see me get hurt by setting my sights too high or by expecting more out of life than I was entitled to receive. They felt it was far better for me too play it safe and settle for my paltry lot in life than to roll the dice and face the bitter disappointment of failure.

Excerpt from Power Session Two entitled "America's Need to Succeed".
We need to challenge ourselves to once again dream big dreams, exciting dreams and challenging dreams. Only these ambitious big time dreams, filled with passion and purpose, give us a reason to live. Only these kind of super charged dreams, laced with fervor and emotion, can fire us up, motivate us and move us to action. Little dreams and tiny thoughts will never excite or motivate anybody to do anything. No, only the really big dreams will ever arouse our senses and stir our souls.

While these big dreams are the very life blood of living, dreaming is just the beginning. We could never dream of great things and worthy accomplishments if we were not capable of achieving them. While average people spend the majority of their time dreaming of worthy accomplishments, winners wake up and make them come true. We can make even the biggest of our biggest dreams a reality by waking up and living them every day of our lives.

Excerpt from Power Session Three entitled "Taking Charge and Challenging Yourself".
You must resolutely resist the temptation to go with the flow. Trail blazers like yourself think for themselves, they do not need others to do their thinking for them. These pioneers follow their own instincts and intuition, seeing no need to follow the crowd. Without a doubt, winners would much rather create their own path and blaze a trail into history than ever wait on anyone or anything outside of their own control. It is your obligation, as an American made winner, to constantly look for a better way of doing things. A winner knows full well that a life without challenge is a life without achievement and a life without achievement is no life at all.

Excerpt from Power Session Four entitled "Unclutter the Clutter".
I am sure you are familiar with the following expression and may have even uttered these words yourself. "I'll believe it when I see it" is an overworked statement in our often skeptical society. Although this phrase has been repeated over and over again by untold millions of people in this country, something is missing. In fact, something very important is missing from this statement. There is no power in this pronouncement. Anybody can sit around and wait to see what happens. Anybody can believe in something after it happens.

You are not just anybody, you are a winner and a winner by nature possesses a much different mindset. The winner is never content or comfortable in assuming a passive approach to life. A passive mindset totally undermines a winner's commitment to personal responsibility. A winner steadfastly refuses to wait or hesitate. Instead, a winner brings a proactive attitude to the table.

Excerpt from Power Session Five entitled "Easy As Counting to Ten".
Why do so many people in our country readily shuck their responsibilities at the first sign of trouble or hot water? After all, are we not all born winners? Why are so many born winners willing to be counted out just when others desperately need to count on them? You already know the answer. Just when we need it the least, that old bugaboo of past negative conditioning has a nasty habit of showing up.

Winners, however, learn to overcome their prior negative conditioning by reconditioning themselves to win. They never back down from the toughest challenges. Winners, like anyone else, are not especially enamored with prospect of having to face up to their problems either. But herein lies the difference between the winners and the pretenders. Winners make a decision to deal with their problems head on and readily accept the challenge of finding a way to make things better, while the pretenders run and hide.

Excerpt from Power Session Six entitled "Giving Change a Chance".
Never does a day go by without a number of changes taking place in our lives. We can choose to control the type of changes we make or we can allow someone else make these choices for us. We can either choose to let things happen or choose to make things happen.

A winner wants control. A winner takes control. A winner makes good things happen. Winners recognize that taking control of the choices they make can involve a bit of risk, but they also realize that failing to make decisions and choices will prove even riskier. The only real choice is a real easy one. Winners insist on controlling any and all changes they make in their lives.

Excerpt from Power Session Seven entitled "Player or Pretender".
How do you go about elevating yourself from pretender to player status? Well, for starters, you need to get down from the bleachers and get out on the playing field. You will never be a part of the action until you get out on the playing field of life. The once you have ventured out on the playing field, don't just stand there waiting for something to happen. Too many people tend to dabble at this or putter around with that in a futile attempt to play it safe. They try to convince themselves and others that they are playing but who are they really fooling? Nobody. Deep down they know they are not giving it their all, but only pretending instead.

Over time these people gradually lose touch with the winner inside themselves and eventually quit playing altogether. Before they know it, life has lost its richness, its excitement and its enjoyment. Rather than reawakening the winner inside them and challenging themselves to be their best, these pretenders are much more comfortable crawling back up in the bleachers where they feel safe and secure. Out of harm's way, they can watch as the life they could have lived passes them by.

Excerpt from Power Session Eight entitled "Making Common Sense Common Again".
It should come as no surprise that the primary difference between winning and not winning boils down to the choices we make. Winners realize a strong winning foundation begins with accepting personal responsibility for who they are and where they are going while the would-be winners avoid personal responsibility like the plague. When winners make mistakes and get knocked down, they quickly get up, get better and get going again, firmly believing success is just around the corner.

When the would-be winners get knocked down, they get up slowly and tentatively. If they get knocked down too many times, they tend to stay down for keeps. Where winners see limitless opportunity, would-be winners see scarcity in its place. Winners look to themselves for the strength they need, where would-be winners look to others for a hand out instead. Winners stand firmly on the solid common ground of winning. It is time for you to make your stand and stand firm as an American made winner as well.

Excerpt from Power Session Nine entitled "Healthy Habits".
Once a bad habit has positioned itself firmly in place, it does not want to be sent packing. It is generally much harder to rid yourself of a bad habit than it was to acquire it in the first place. Over time these bad habits become internalized and become a part of you. Try as you might to get rid of it, the bad habit holds on tight. Trying to get rid of a bad habit will not work. The only sure fire way to get rid of a bad habit is to make certain you replace it with a good habit. Once you have eliminated the bad habit, you then must focus on controlling the kind of habits you acquire in the future.

Excerpt from Power Session Ten entitled "Spontaneous Combustion".
As we surely know by now, if there is one constant about the game of life - it is CHANGE. We continually shape, enhance, improve and yes, change our lives daily. Our lives are literally under construction from head to toe in one form or fashion every single day. Some of the changes we make are small and almost imperceptible while some of the other changes we undertake are of a far greater magnitude.

The choices we make determine the changes we make. Sometimes we are enthusiastically engaged in building a beautiful bridge to the future, while other times we seem overly preoccupied with a pothole from the past. As long as each of us lives, we will continue to change each and every day. If you ever stop changing and growing, you unfortunately start dying.

Excerpt from Power Session Eleven entitled "Today is Definitely Your Day".
The would-be winners habitually say "someday I will do this" or "someday I will do that", constantly placing their future on lay-a-way. They want the good life just like everyone else, but their short sighted perspective prevents them from seeing themselves actually living that elusive good life. Instead of choosing to be their absolute best, they choose a second rate life for themselves and their families as well. Their past negative conditioning allows them to only see a limited future comprised of unlimited problems.

Instead of dreaming of a great future, they dread what the future has in store for them. I know first hand how crippling a doom and gloom attitude can be. It can sap your strength, erode your faith and stamp out your hope - leaving only a shattered spirit in its wake. Unfortunately, I have walked in those very uncomfortable shoes. I am not alone however. Chances are pretty good that all of us have at one time or another.

Excerpt from Power Session Twelve entitled "Setting Your Cruise Control".
When you clearly conceive the lifestyle you wish to lead in your mind combined with an unfailing conviction in your heart that you can make it happen, you exhibit the type of positive power needed to turn these dreams into reality. I know some of you are preconditioned to scoff at the suggestion that success is really that simple. Your many years negative conditioning tells you it "can't" be done and that you "can't" do it. I almost hate to break the good news to you skeptics in the crowd, but this kind of good luck not only can happen but does happen to anyone and everyone who finally decides now is the time to live the life they have always wanted.

Excerpt from Power Session Thirteen entitled "High Impact Interactions".
As you continue to improve your life by implementing the techniques, ideas and strategies outlined in this program, you will perceive a profound improvement in your own self esteem and self confidence. Over time, you will develop what we call a bullet proof personality. This kind of self reliant disposition will insulate you from the disparaging and discouraging remarks and criticisms that are sure to be hurled at you from negative people you meet or associate with on occasion. These doom and gloom nay-sayers will attempt to bring you back down to their lowly level by spewing a seemingly endless array of reasons and excuses of why you "can't" do this and "can't" do that. Unfortunately, some of these negative people may even be your so-called friends and acquaintances.

Excerpt from Power Session Fourteen entitled "It Takes Focus - Not Hocus Pocus".
Do you believe in magic? No, I'm not talking about voodoo, witchcraft or other forms of hocus pocus. Far from it. What I am talking about is the mysterious, mystical, almost magical powers we hold inside of ourselves. I can tell you first hand that I do indeed believe there must be something to this "magic" business. After all, I've seen countless winners produce amazing results day in and day out that are nothing short of magical in nature.

Each and every year, millions upon millions of Americans work their mysterious magic and by doing so, they claim their rightful place among the success stories of life. In spite of all of the obstacles thrown in their path and all of the seemingly insurmountable difficulties they encounter, they still make it to the top and so can you. You just need to believe in a little magic yourself.

Excerpt from Power Session Fifteen entitled "Being in the Right Place at the Right Time".
The luckiest people in America get their lucky breaks because they optimistically expect the best from life and constantly focus on doing their best. They have come to realize that their "know how" will surpass someone else's "guess how" all day long. These winners believe that luck isn't really about how you look at life, but is more about how you "work" with life. This positive workmanlike approach assures that the winners get more lucky breaks than everyone else combined. They have discovered that being in the right place at the right time leads to a lot of lucky breaks, so they "position" themselves for success.

Excerpt from Power Session Sixteen entitled "Pride Comes From the Inside".
I have personally met a number of people who desperately wanted to accomplish some truly great and important things in their lives, but were knocked to their knees when they were told by others that they were not good enough, not smart enough or maybe not lucky enough to get the job done. Instead of dismissing these observations as senseless and without merit, they bought the nonsense from these "experts" hook, line and sinker. They allowed others to put their pride on the back burner and consequently paid a heavy price and still do to this day. They quit believing in themselves and consequently stopped living as a result. Don't you dare make that mistake!

Deep down, you know you can do it. Deep down, you know you have what it takes to be counted among the best of the best. This kind of healthy self image will provide the best insurance policy against these so-called experts. You have to believe, with every ounce of energy in your body, that you have what it takes. As soon as you start believing it on the inside, you'll undoubtedly begin seeing results happen on the outside. The minute you start doing within, you'll stop doing without.

Excerpt from Power Session Seventeen entitled "Yes, You Can!"
Winners have one thing in common. They absolutely detest wasting their time. Just the mere thought of sitting around doing absolutely nothing can drive a winner completely bonkers. Winners make the most of their time and as a result, the are constantly looking for more effective ways of doing things. While each of us is allotted the same 24 hours every day, winners are those unique individuals that consistently find ways to squeeze more living out of these 24 hours.

Winners are successful at finding all sorts of ways to get things done and as a result, they get more things done. On the other hand, the would-be winners in life are successful at finding all sorts of excuses and reasons why things "can't" be done. They are quick to tell us that they can't do this and they can't do that. One can't is followed by another can't and then another can't and so on. Can't, can't, can't, can't, can't. Instead of getting the job done, they leave behind an endless trail of "cant's" and things left undone.

Excerpt from Power Session Eighteen entitled "Learning How to Lose the Wait".
Winners are never very good at playing the waiting game. They detest waiting on anyone or anything. They fervently believe that sooner is much better then later. Winners want to get where they want to go as quickly as possible, so they learn how to lose the wait. President Lincoln's statement above illustrated the profound importance of taking care of business. He believed that if you are perfectly willing to wait around for something to happen, then you must be perfectly content with only the leftovers as well. He knew that winners consistently do what needs to be done, when it needs to be done.

We need to follow President Lincoln's advice and stop waiting around for good things to happen to us and for us. You can make good things happen the moment you start aggressively moving toward achieving your goals and objectives. Just imagine all of the positive things you can accomplish when you begin converting all of those wasted minutes and hours you spend waiting into full fledged, super charged action. You can use this newly "found" time to experience feelings you haven't felt, use brain cells that you haven't used and live the life you haven't lived before.

Excerpt from Power Session Nineteen entitled "Pushing beyond Your Boundaries".
Additionally, many of us are guilty of forcing our minds to work on the things we feel we have to do, instead of electing to unleash our mind's powerful potential on the things we love to do. This simple differentiation goes largely unnoticed by many. Winners never misuse their mind's awesome power by foolishly chasing their tails. Instead, they choose to harness the enormous potential within them by chasing their dreams!

Without a doubt, winners have found the only way to achieve true happiness in life is to follow their dreams. Your mind will respond much more positively and productively when it is directed to work on something that stirs the passion within. As you begin your daily ritual of mind s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g activities, you will find yourself suddenly and unexpectedly thrust into a new world full of unlimited opportunities.

Excerpt from Power Session Twenty entitled "A Daily Commitment to Excellence".
It has been said that the truest test of a person's character is what they do when no one is looking. The manner in which you approach and honor the commitments you make speaks volumes about your character. A commitment to excellence and the acceptance of personal responsibility are key attributes that work together in developing a winner's uncompromising character. Honor, integrity, morality and honesty all work hand in hand, forging the winner's distinctive single-minded will to win. Unfortunately, it sometimes seems as though these valued commodities are in short supply these days.

It is imperative that you develop an unwavering commitment to finish what you start and do what you say. You need to accept full, unwavering responsibility for who you are and what you do while doggedly pursuing excellence in every task you undertake. Never forget, even for a moment, that you need to bring out your best in order to be your best. When you commit to excellence in everything you say, think and do, your best is sure to come from the inside out.

Excerpt from Power Session Twenty One entitled "Getting the Best Out of What You Have Been Given".
Here are some tips for staying aloft. You need to remember that getting "up" is one thing, but staying up is quite another challenge altogether. In order for the bird to keep flying freely in the clear blue skies above, it has to keep flapping its wings. Should the bird suddenly stop moving its wings, it would fall to the ground below. In order for you to stay up, it is essential that you maintain a positive, powerful "air" all around you. You have power over the thoughts you think, the words you say and the things you do. You must make certain that these words and deeds are of a positive nature. As long as you continue to immerse yourself in a positive environment and keep striving to be your best, you will keep flying above the crowd.

Excerpt from Power Session Two entitled "Silence is Golden".
In spite of all the data we have about how stress, pressure and tension negatively impacts our health and ultimately our lives, far too many Americans equate success with an ever charging, never relenting, full steam ahead approach to life. While there is nothing wrong with living life at full speed, we should pay heed to our internal warning signals that tell us we are pushing ourselves well beyond the breaking point.

Throughout this program, we have constantly encouraged you to make the most out of every moment of every day. However, that does not necessarily mean you should go all out all of the time. If you routinely fail to provide yourself an occasional break from the hustle and bustle of day to day living, you will run the risk of burning yourself out. You can only push yourself just so far before you need to take a few moments to refresh and recharge yourself. The best technique for turning down the heat and reducing life's pressures is a relatively simple one. We simply need to learn how to relax.

Excerpt from Power Session Twenty Three entitled "Denying Your Doubts".
Without question, life can feel like a real pressure cooker at times. Day after day, week after week, you can feel the pressure building and building and building inside you ... until you feel like your are going to explode. Whenever you feel this unrelenting pressure building inside of you, we want you to heed the warning signs and turn the pressure down, in fact, turn it way down. You must learn how to diffuse stress by staying cool, calm and collected - even when the heat is on. You will discover the moment you turn down the heat, you are free again to turn yourself loose.

Your life shouldn't be dominated with stress and fear, but instead should be filled with fun and adventure. Each new day holds the potential for being the best day you have ever lived, or it can be just another day. The way in which you approach each day will determine the way you get to live each day. Each and every one of us needs to grab more of the good days and eliminate the bad days in our life. Can this be done? Is it possible for us to stack together one good day after another after another for the rest of our life? You better believe it is. Positive conditioning is the key.

Excerpt from Power Session Twenty Four entitled "Becoming Fiscally Fit".
While it is an unfortunate fact that a majority of Americans will never understand the dynamics of money, it shouldn't be all that surprising. Our school systems fail to teach us how to make, manage and keep money. They certainly do not show us the way to build financial wealth. When it comes to making money, we are left on our own and must learn these lessons the hard way through trial and error, or should I more accurately say trial and "terror"? Generally speaking, by the time most of us are lucky enough to find a way to actually make some decent money, we may already be "going for broke".

Excerpt from Power Session Twenty Five entitled "Thinking Super Big and Working Super Smart". In the same manner that you can condition yourself to think in super BIG terms, you can also condition yourself to work in a super smart manner as well. It isn't all that difficult to master the "working super smart" concept. Yes, it does take a little extra effort up front to establish the proper conditioning, but what worthwhile habit doesn't? Working super smart is accomplished by taking your most outstanding thoughts and ideas and efficiently converting them into immediate, proactive application.

The best thoughts and brightest ideas you may ever conceive can come quite suddenly and without warning in the form of a smart attack. It is relatively easy to have a smart attack when you are passionately pursuing a worthwhile project that excites, drives and inspires you. When you are actively engaged in something that stirs the passion and raw emotions deep down inside of you, your mind will get busy devising a way to make it happen.

Excerpt from Power Session Twenty Six entitled "Doing the Right Thing Because It's the Right Thing To Do".
Contrary to poplar belief, doing the right thing is never out of touch or out of fashion. The world would be a much better place for you, your loved ones and everyone else if each of us made a habit of doing the right thing all of the time. While you may not be able to control the actions of others, you can surely do your part in making our world a better place by stepping up and doing the right thing yourself. You must readily accept and embrace the immense responsibility that comes with the territory. Winners are always ready, willing and able to do the right thing whenever and wherever it needs to be done. You need to be prepared to do your part too.

Excerpt from Power Session Twenty Seven entitled "Becoming an Overnight Success".
"You've got to pay your dues". I bet I have heard that phrase hundreds if not thousands of times over the years. If you are like me, you have listened to the so-called experts tell you that in order for you to get to the top of the heap, you have got to pay your dues along the way. Paying your dues - what in the heck does this statement really mean anyway? To most people, paying your dues means putting in a lot of years of hard work, keeping your nose to the grindstone and patiently wait your turn. Then, after you have paid your dues, there might be a place for you at the top.

What's wrong with this picture? For starters, by agreeing to pay your dues to someone other than yourself, you are needlessly relinquishing control of your life. Additionally, you ostensibly agree to wait in line as you wait for your turn to come around. Then, after you have waited and waited for who knows how long, there are no assurances that your turn will ever actually come around. Winners know there must be a better way to get to the top.

Excerpt from Power Session Twenty Eight entitled "Making Ends Meet".
Life is truly a game of believe it or not. Regardless of whether you believe you can do something or alternatively believe you "can't", life rarely lets you down. When you believe you can - it's a sure bet that you will. On the other hand, when you think you can't - it's a cinch that you won't. Believe it or not, it's your choice. You had better start believing, if you haven't done so already. Unlike the little train who kept saying "I think I can, I think I can" as it chugged up the mountainside, you have to keep boldly telling yourself "I know I can, I know I can".

Thinking you can won't cut the mustard. You have to believe, with all of your heart and all of you soul, that you can do it. You have to know you can win before you will start winning on a consistent basis. When you reach the point in your personal growth and development where you begin believing that anything is indeed possible, then anything will indeed be possible. Winners never lack for self confidence. They believe in themselves and in their plan. The real winners in life look at every situation with an expectation that they can make it work - or make it better. They know they can do it, they just know it. There's no longer any doubt about it, there's is no longer any question about it - they know they can do it with all their heart and soul.

Excerpt from Power Session Twenty Nine entitled "Pushing the Power Button".
Winners don't whine and whiners don't win. Other than sharing a number of the same letters, winning and whining have very little in common. You rarely, if ever, see a winner whining about this or that. They have already come to terms with a harsh reality of life - whining keeps you from winning. If there is one thing that defines the true achievers, it is their impassioned will to win. Anything that gets in the way of winning has no place in their life - and whining gets in their way big time.

Winners know full well that you don't have time to whine when you're busy winning and you don't have time to win when you're busy whining. Griping, complaining, fussing and fuming won't lead you to the winner's circle. Whining siphons your energy, diverts your attention and squanders your focus. Don't fool yourself into thinking, even for a moment, that you can do both. It's not possible. Don't con yourself into believing whining won't adversely affect your progress. It will.

Excerpt from Power Session Thirty entitled "Something Special Can Happen Here".
As we reach the final day of our program together, it is my fondest wish that something really special has occurred in your life. I sincerely hope we have helped you in a number of positive ways. You have discovered that anything and everything is definitely possible and as a result, some truly special things are occurring every day, sometimes even when you least expect them.
